In an attempt to find a solution for my thin and constantly shedding hair, I turned to Nioxin as it seems highly regarded. After a couple of months of use, I didn't notice anything considerably, or even mildly, different about my hair.

I went to get a hair cut two weeks ago, and the stylist commented on how dry and damaged my hair is. He inquired as to what products I have been using, and when I mentioned Nioxin, he immediately responded with, "Stop using it right away." He proceeded to explain that while it may be somewhat effective in less shedding, it will only occur within the first 2 months of use. After this period of time, it becomes much less effective, and mostly harmful, stripping the crucial natural moisture of one's scalp and hair.

This is my first try with this product. I bought it based on the reviews here. I was hesitant to spend the money on it but it has been worth every cent. I have very fine, curly hair. For a long time, I have had issues with losing hair and have very thin patches on my crown area. So far, I have tried vitamins and different styling products. I have used Nioxin for only 2-3 weeks but love it so far. I don't mind the smell and don't notice that it lasts once I am out of the shower. The smell reminds me of the tea tree shampoo that my son uses. My hair appears thicker/fuller and I am not losing as much hair (that was very noticeable to me). I noticed a difference with this right away. I can't believe I have found something like this that is gentle yet so effective in a short amount of time. I really had given up on my hair and I am so thankful I found this.

The Nioxin System 3 definitely does not strip my color, which is great. It does seem to thoroughly clean my scalp, and I believe there's been no advance in thinning since I began using it about 10 months ago. However, I dislike the smell that others seem to like; I don't like my hair to smell like mint chewing gum, I prefer more feminine, floral/citrus/fresh fruit scents and this shampoo does not smell "girly" enough for me. It smells like somebody chewing gum to cover up a chemical odor, and it lathers poorly, even in our soft local tap water. I must use a tablespoon or more of it to get suds all over my scalp. There has also been extremely limited to no regrowth of hair.

I was freaking out because of losing so much hair lately and my daughter had used this product for that very same reason about a year ago. It actually works. Her hair stopped falling out and looks SO much thicker. Well, it seems to be working for me too. I love the smell, almost like spearmint gum. It really does make your hair look thicker! I am still amazed at this benefit. I am losing less, more like the typical hair fall out now. I use it about every two to three days. And have been using it for a month now. I don't think it is stripping the color out of my hair. Seems to be no draw backs to this product, except the price. Thus the 4 stars.

I was kind of skeptical before I used this product, but after a couple of weeks of use I think I have noticed a difference. My hair does feel thicker and appears to be shinier. I love the minty feel and smell.

I started using this product because I began loosing a significant amount of hair. After using approximately a half a bottle of shampoo, I noticed that my hair loss began to subside. I plan to continue using this product.

Keeps hair from thinning. I noticed a difference last summer when I stopped using.
