I bought this for my daughter. This was her fourth baby and she never had any problems with breastfeeding before. However, they now live in an area that has very dry air and causes dry skin, etc. She has been having problems with cracked nipples and uses this to help resolve that problem. She said it's a life saver!! Works great!!

I like this brand better than the other one I found - it's smoother and easier to spread on. Of course in either case, working the lanolin between your fingertip and thumb will warm and soften it. This stuff is such a help, get a tube for each place you nurse and one for your purse! They have little tubes as well.

I was given a sample of this in the hospital with my first child--ten years ago. I used it as a nipple conditioner and protector while nursing all three of my children, for a total of 58 months of nursing. Because I used Lansinoh, I NEVER had chapped or sore nipples. Now that my children are older, I continue to use this product as a lip balm at night with my CPAP (for sleep apnea) and I always have soft, smooth lips. There is no taste, so it doesn't bother anyone sensitive to fragrance. I use this on chapped skin, diaper or other similar rashes, and anywhere the skin is very dry or in need of healing. I've never regretted using it for anything and I always keep an extra tube on hand. I highly recommend Lansinoh lanolin.

I've been nursing for one month and am convinced Lansinoh has saved my nipples. I started using it before giving birth- as well as stopped using soap on my nipples (too drying). I now apply it after almost every nursing and my nipples aren't dry or cracked in the least, they're the same as they ever were. And though nursing doesn't feel great per se, it's bearable and I can tell my nipples are already desensitizing and pain is less and less frequent and I didn't have to go through nipple trauma to get there. One thing though, it is very stiff and extremely difficult to squeeze out of the tube (esp. in colder weather). I warmed mine up in hot water until it melted and then poured it into a small glass jar. Now it's easy to apply as lip balm.

This nursing balm was in my bag for the hospital and I was so grateful to have thought of putting it in there. I had never breastfed before and I felt so raw after each feeding. Putting some of this ointment on after each first feedings really made it better. Baby didn't mind the taste at all. The only annoying thing about it is that it's an ointment and like every ointment, it leaves your fingers "oiled" after putting it on and makes the nipples stick into the breast pads. Nothing painful to unstick but still annoying.

Soften small amount between fingers and apply to the entire nipple area after each feeding or as needed. Apply before showering to protect sensitive nipples.
