I have problems with a noisy neighbor who sees no problen with having a movie theatre on the other side of our shared wall. I have gotten him to compromise and turn his subwoofer down, but I can still hear some residuals and it was preventing me from falling asleep. I tried these ear plugs and they make a huge difference. The thing about these compared to cotton balls or foam is that these have a stickiness to them and when properly used they form a seal around your ear and really block most sounds. There are some frequencies you will still hear (although lighter) but these are a must for someone who needs help falling asleep in a noisy place. I guess the only con is that these are temporary - once they lose their stickiness (maybe 5 days or so depending on how much you wore them) you need to get a new pair. Another thing is that I find them uncomfortable if I lay on my side, so I normally start the night out laying on my back with these in my ears for a peaceful night's rest!

I tried a pair of foam ear plugs before I purchased these and those failed, fell out, and blocked nothing. I decided to purchase these based on all the great reviews and found them really ineffective and uncomfortable. While the directions say to use one entire blob of silicone in each ear and never to cut them in half, they are way too huge and would not fit unless I cut them into two halves. I then rolled them and pressed over my ear canal and tried to flatten. They did not form a seal and did not block out anything. I also couldn't imagine sleeping with them and having that sticky substance attract lint, hair and everything else into my ear. Really a bad buy for me.

Very good noise reduction option. I use them when riding my motorcycle or if I'm in a place where noise is an issue. I cut the pads in 1/3rds & mold the piece into a wedge & insert it tightly into my ears (despite the directions on the package not to jam them into your ears). Never have a problem getting them out & have seen no adverse effects after more than 20 years of use. In between uses I put the wedges in one of the plastic boxes that these come in to help keep them tacky. They get dirty from handling & use after a couple of uses so I throw them away & make new ones.

Even though I live in a residential area the adjacent property is business. They are forever vacuuming, paving, gardening etc, in the parking area at night. These little earplugs have been a God send for a good night's sleep.

I have been using this product for probably 3 decades, ever since I got my first job working an overnight shift in broadcasting. They are an incredibly good product that effectively block most noise.
What I have learned is, carefully tie my hair back so they don't get caught up in my hair while I sleep and replace them in the plastic case as soon as I wake up. They last much longer that way.
Sometimes I just use a plug in my left ear because I sleep on my right side. That works for me.

I am a very light sleeper and use Mack's ear plugs every night. They mold to your ear to keep noise out. I have very small ear canal openings and am unable to use the ear plugs you insert into your ear canal. I should buy stock in the company, as I have recommended these to many of my friends and family, who also love them.

These are completely worthless to me. The silicone sticks to my fingers. I have to repeatedly push them against my ear canal so they can stay. They are not flush in any way. Therefore they do not block noise. And they are very uncomfortable.

I've tried other ear plugs but none have worked as great as these. I live in a residential area, which abuts offices. It seems there is always some night time project going on in the parking lot there...vacuuming, tree trimming and chipping, gardening, re-surfacing, generators, which are all very noisy activities. I've had much trouble sleeping through these noises over the years but not since I've used Mack's ear plugs.
Make sure hands and ear opening are clean and dry. Shape whole plug into a ball. Place plug over ear opening and flatten to form airtight seal. Avoid hair. Discard when soiled or no longer sticky (up to 5 uses).
