Pros: Durable

Best Uses: Meals, Toddlers

Turns food into baby food texture. Use with soft foods, meat, vegetacles and fruits all work. Cleaning grinder part with small holes have to be done with a nipplie ceaner to get into the samll holes. turn to open and close after putting in food could be better.

I was looking for a food mill to make my own baby food, and other reviews liked this one, plus the price was right, so I tried it. The mill is very small, so it's really more useful for milling food that you're going to serve right away. But not good if you want to make a big batch of food to freeze. And while it worked well for very soft foods -- avocado, ripe banana -- it takes a lot more effort for firmer foods. I managed to do sweet potato, but apples (which I steamed before milling) were really hard. I've actually given up on this mill and am just using my good food processor which gets all these foods into a really smooth puree (have to thin out the sweet potato with breast milk). I wouldn't recommend this product, and I'm glad it wasn't too expensive or I would really feel bad about wasting money!

This was okay for the money, relatively easy to clean except around the inner edges but the mill part on top is flimsy and hard to get off if you want to add more food before you're finished. If you don't put the mill part on completely it pops off, but its hard to get on at all once food has passed through it so its really only convenient for small quantities, not for reloading and continuing. Also its a little hard to push down while milling- takes some doing, and the food that comes through is not so fine- a little lumpy plus the skins come through for peas and lentils and things like that.

I am not a parent and have never actually used one of these myself. I had a friend who swore by it when raising his son, so I began including one in baby shower gift baskets, and every person who I've given one to over the years has said it's one of the most practical and useful things they have. You can control what goes into your child's body, whereas not so much with commercial baby food, plus the cost savings! And not putting all those little jars into the land fill! Also, I've found that it's not something other people find and give, so no duplications at the baby shower.

Pros: Convenient, Easy to use, Seals Well, Washes Easily
Describe Yourself: Grandparent
Best Uses: At Home, Feeding, Travel
Bottom Line: recommended
Our 6 month grandchild just had leftover salmon, broccoli and rice last night and loved it. Tonight he'll have some of the stew we made over the weekend. Whatever we are eating, he loves. I used this for our daughter and am convinced that is why she was never a fussy eater. Easy to use, clean and store.

I had been using a food processor for a lot of my baby food, but had a problem with certain veggies with skins, like peas and green beans. They just wouldn't puree smooth. But this food mill took care of it by sifting out the skins. It will be great to bring on the road too. My hand got tired after pureeing a whole sweet potato this way, and the grate can be hard to remove from a dirty mill, but it isn't enough of a problem to warrant a lower rank.

I have used this product for many years. Used it with my own children, daycare children and now buy it for my grandchildren. I have even had parents order them to use at home! Foods are easy to grind, but some easier if warmed up. What a great way to use leftovers! Pop extra in an ice cube tray, cover with plastic wrap, pop in freezer and have ready for later. LOVE IT!

Used this 30 years ago and surprised still available, since so many mini food processors are in stores, but this you can use anytime/anywhere, and perfect to have on hand should you be unable to get to the store (snowbound, etc.) Very convenient to take to Grandma's, restaurants, etc. Great that you can feed baby from top of grinder. I would grind whatever dinner selections Grandma served on holidays (turkey, potatoes, vegetables, soups) , but would add some of a jar of baby carrots or other veg. to make looser. Works best with cooked foods. After raising two children and using this for the second child, he proved to be a better eater due to this early start of a variety of foods. After child was grown, I used it to grind sauteed onions or any ingredient I needed pureed for a recipe. as so much easier to clean than an electric mini processor, and this had held up for 30 years! Wonderful gift for a new parent!

This food mill only works well with soft foods. The same foods that you could easily mash with your fork or cut with your knife. Much easier to do it the "old fashioned way
