I gave up on Benzoyl Peroxide acne treatments after using them as a teen and experiencing dry, flaky skin and ruining my sheets and clothing with the bleaching effect. For years I thought this duo-performing product was a gimmick- that a mask product would make an ineffective cleanser and vice versa. I was wrong! After seeing rave reviews, I finally decided to give it a try. I had a bunch of stress- related cystic acne breakouts on my jaw line that wouldn't go away. After using this as a mask every other night for a week, the cystic acne is gone, and the rest of my acne-prone skin is beginning to look more clear too. I like that I am getting the benefit of BP without the side effects. I also like that I can use this as a mask when I feel a flare up coming, and at certain times of the month when I am more prone to breakouts. Definitely give this try! (Only drawback so far- the kind of weird menthol/ floral scent)

This stuff really works well in the fight against blackheads and other nasty skin blemishes, and reduces large pores. Used 2 to 3 times a week it doesn't over dry the skin. CAUTION: It will damage linens and clothes it comes in contact with, so be careful not to let it come in contact with them! I have the tee shirts and towels with white splotches to prove it!

I am really impressed with this product. The scent is nice and it gives a pleasant cooling sensation while using this product either as a mask or as a cleanser. It does purge my blackheads out for easy extraction and helps to minimize the pimples and acne. However, I will use this product rather moderately to prevent my skin from "getting immunity from this product". Definitely recommended to people with acne prone skin! Good Products With Good Price!

This product is GREAT but should be used with caution. It's one of those that you have to know your skin, or at least err on the side of caution. I do not use this as a facewash, but use it as a mask 1-2 times a week or depending on how my days go. I would call this your "super deep down squeeky clean" product. If I have a long night of dancing after a girl's night, have a few bad pimples, or wear alot of makeup, I pull this out. I first exfoliate to open up the pores and leave this on for about 10 minutes...you'll start to feel your face get kind of dry and itchy and that is when it's time to take it off. After that I use a really good moisturizer. I have sensitive skin and this product works great for me, but I did have to learn that less is more!

I use this product as a morning and night cleanser and then as a mask about 2x a week. I find that it smells amazing. The product really did minimize my pores and dry out persisting acne id had, but becareful not to leave it on your face excessively. I like to take small amounts and put them on pimples overnight so that they dry out. Awesome product.

I use it in the moring or every other morning depends how my skin feels. People using this has to be careful. It does dry out skin if use too often and if your skin can't tolerate it. Just use your instinct...it depends on the weather and where you live. It is a great product for blackheads and whiteheads and adult acne, but you must adjust to how often you use it based on your need. More is not better sometimes...give your skin time to heal and don't over do it with this. I haven't used as a mask yet since it has been effective as a cleaner. I think great as a mask in Summer. Don't forget to moisturizes afterward!

I searched all over drugstore.com for a treatment for my recent acne flare-up. I was breaking out for some reason on my nose only, which isnt exactly pleasant looking. My nose was sore and covered in many red, inflamed spots, with new ones popping up each day. I started using this 3 days ago just as the facewash - I used it at night the first two nights, then as a mask in the shower on the 3rd morning. I am VERY impressed with how quickly this went to work clearing up the blemishes on my nose. The new ones forming have since nearly vanished, and the bigger red blemishes are drying up and are greatly reduced. On top of that, it cleared up a few other blemishes on my face that had been lingering for a good week prior to using this with no improvement. In only 3 days it cleared up sooo much and I am so thankful. I should note that I've used benzoyl peroxide in the past, but at a 2.5% solution, so my skin was relatively used to it and did not burn. Start slow if you are new to BP, and careful rinsing your face because the splashing water will get the BP on your clothing and can bleach, although I havent found this to be a major problem if you are just careful. I am typically a budget buyer, however I bought this brand because it is supposed to be #1 dermatologist recommended so I thought it would be worth it. I used the product as a mask, and before the 5 minutes was even up I felt it burning and rinsed it off. I was then left with a red, painful, hot to the touch burn on my face for several hours despite taking benadryl and putting cold compresses on it. To make matters worse it was a holiday weekend [...] I was extremely let down in Neutrogena. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, and if you do buy it, exercise caution with it, don't leave it on for too long.

Benzoyl Peroxide is a "harsher" acne treatment so it does cause slight redness after use as an intensive mask - even on darker skin tones. I use this mask at night only due to the increased sun sensitivity. The product does deep clean and pull the extra oils to the surface of the skin. it is worth the money.
