The ion feature definitely dries hair faster and controls static and frizzies. This dryer is quieter than others. However, I've had it for less than 2 years and one day it worked fine and the very next day it was dead. Also, the on/off switch is in a very bad spot on the handle. I kept turning it off while using it. I don't think I'll buy this dryer again. I'm going to try another type.

I wish there was a rating below 1 star! I hate this dryer. It has no power, and the on/off switch is located where you hold the dryer, so I'm always accidentially turning it off.

I love the ION technology! I bought this dryer and found that I am now a convert to the ION feature. My hair is shinier and static free. It does dry much slower then my old dryer, however, and is heavy and not at all quiet. I would buy it again even with those negative aspects. The shine it gives my hair is worth it.

I really love this dryer. I am not sure about the ION technology- that seems useless to me. I bought it primarily because it is so much quieter than other dryers. I love that I can have a conversation, and hear the TV or the phone ring while I dry my hair now. I don't notice that it takes longer than any other dryer, but the quietness is well worth it for me! I have had it for over a year and it still seems to work as well as when I got it- that is much better than some Revlon models I have had in the past. No complaints!

It has no power, the ionization doesn't do anything, it's heavy, and the on/off switch is where you hold it so it is forever turning off. This is the only Conair dryer I've hated in the 40 years I've used them.

This dryer, although quieter than most, stopped working within 6 months. I didn't even use it daily. The ion shine did not do anything that I noticed. I would not recommend this dryer.

I hate this hair dryer. The worst part is that the controls are placed in the hand grip of the dryer, where your fingers grasp it, so you constantly turn the dryer off when you're using it - very aggravating. Plus, it is a big dryer to begin with and when you add the attachment that concentrates the air flow, the barrel is so long you have to position your arm as far away as possible to keep from scorching your hair and scalp. I can't say for sure because I do have fine hair and have my hair chemically highlighted but I really don't believe that it protects your hair. My hair seems more brittle since I bought and started using this dryer. I was having it highlighted and blow drying it before I started using this dryer but never noticed my hair being so frizzy and breaking so much. The only good thing I can say about it is it does have strong airflow. Otherwise, I'm waiting for it to die so I can buy a different dryer.

I like the way the dryer operates and dries hair. Also, it is quieter than most hair dryers. However, it has one annoying flaw - the placement of the on/off switch is terrible. It is almost impossible to not frequently turn the dryer off by mistake while using it because of where the switch is located on the handle.

I used this for about a year, but recently gave up and replaced it. I never noticed a difference in my hair with the ion feature. This dryer is big and heavy and clunky, and every day when I was trying to maneuver it around my hair I always managed to accidentally switch off the on/off switch on the handle during use. I replaced it with a brand name dryer that cost me less, and it's much better.

I was disappointed with this dryer. The ionizer didn't decrease static, and the dryer is much to big for me to be comfortable handling with one hand while styling my hair with the other. I would go for a smaller style, without the "benefit" of the ionizer.
