I use this mostly to keep my acne under control. I dab it on a cotton ball, add tea tree oil, and rub it all over my face. It's much less expensive than brand-name astringents, and works just as well. I also use it for its more obvious purpose: to clean cuts and scrapes.

I used to use Proactiv toner to help maintain my skin (note: I do not have acne issues except for one or two pimples once in a blue moon), but after reading the ingredients of the Proactiv toner, I decided to try straight Witch Hazel. I've always heard great things about Witch Hazel and how it's a wonderful, natural facial astringent -- you just soak some into a cotton ball & sweep across your entire face. I've been using it for some time now & it has kept my skin looking great, doesn't give me a tight, dry feeling and is much, much, much less expensive than Proactiv. I haven't used it for insect bites or minor cuts yet, but I'll be sure to try it out for those issues if need be. This is definitely a great product to have in your medicine cabinet!

It's mild and good for most sensitive skin. The only issue would be the 14% alcohol. If you can tolerate that on your skin, you will be fine. I used this as a toner when I was in my teens and it works well. But now I mainly use it to soothe skin irritations and it works for that too. It's pretty good for scratches and mosquito/spider bites. Good for helping soothe rosacea "reds". Good for veterinary use: my cat has allergies that sometimes make her ears itch badly inside. I dampen a cotton ball and swab just inside her ears--no more scratching and clawing at her ears. The only thing is that this needs to be repeated (for cats and people with bites and other skin irritations) fairly often. But it's gentle and effective. Not much of that around! Buy this and use it. You will want it around all the time.

This is a mild astringent, so I prefer it much more to the Sea Breeze and other acne-fighting astringents that strip your face of all moisture. Also, the witch hazel is soothing. Ive never tried it on what it's meant for - bug bites and scrapes.
