I've used Zip for a few months now and I LOVE it. I use it just for my underarms since that is my major problem area. I would shave for a couple minutes and I'd still end up with hair left! Not anymore with Zip. Here's a great way that I've found of heating it up: Pop it in an empty candle holder and put it on an electric candle warmer. In about 10-20 minutes, you're ready to wax and it'll keep it warm while you're working. Not only that, but you can wax in the bathroom, where it's not as critical to keep things from getting a little messy (though I've never had trouble with that). Use common sense, follow the instructions and you're good to go.

Best Uses: Lipchin eyebrows bikin, Sensitive Areas

I have been going to a waxer for five or more years but have never done an at home kit. I've recently moved and haven't found a waxer yet so decided to give it a try myself. Normally I get a brazilian bikini wax but thought I'd start out easy and just do a normal bikini wax. It ended up being so easy and relatively painless that I went ahead and did the whole brazilian. No problems. I'm SO happy I don't have to pay $60+ a month to get this done anymore. I really like that it's a hard wax so you don't need to use any strips. This is much less of a hassle. I've used it on chin, upper lip and eyebrows all with no problem. It is true that the wax block is hard to break up (had my husband do it). I heated it in an old pot on top of a pot with boiling water and that was simple to do and didn't get too hot. No burns. Make sure you use an old pot that you don't want to use again and that you will dedicate to waxing. Any waxing is messy so make sure you strip down and don't have any carpet or anything special near the wax. As others have said if the wax starts to chip then you heated it too much or spread it too thin. Just put on a thick coat and you should have no problem. That's another thing I liked...if you ever have trouble pulling it off or if you messed up then just coat it again and it comes right off. The only thing I had trouble with was trying to use this wax to do legs and that may be because I'm still a novice. But for the wax to be effective I have to do it in small patches in order to keep it thick...which is great for lip, chin, under arms, eyebrows and bikini but takes FOREVER with legs. I also found sometimes it's hard to get the residue off skin and the sink if you drop some. Most of it just chips off but sometimes its stubborn. I tried using oil but it wasn't really effective. I scrub it off my body in the shower but use my hair drier to warm up the residue on surfaces I can't get it off. Overall I'm super happy and pretty amazed by this product. I recently bought a wax warmer to use with this product.

by Smooth as silk[Verified Reviewer] in Chicago on 10/1/08
Pros: Easy To Use
Bottom Line: recommended
I love this wax. I bought a small slow cooker from a thrift store to heat it in and as it is only me using it I reuse it a couple of times. It takes a little getting used to waxing but once you get the hang of it you will never go back to shaving. I was so disappointed when I couldn't find this product anymore in shops, as using the strips of paper to wax with isn't nearly as effective as this wonderful hot wax.

I have used Zip Wax for more than 20 years. No other wax even comes close to this one! I was so bummed when I could no longer find it in stores, and so relieved when I found it here. Other waxes stay sticky on your hands and are hard to use to get rid of hair. Zip wax makes it all so simple---with very little mess. I use a small old saucepan to heat it up and always keep it in there. (Don't want to get food in it!) I tried microwaving it, but that didn't work. Just a low heat setting on the stove and constant watching and stirring.

Pros: It Works
Cons: Takes a little practice
Describe Yourself: Goatee Wearer
Best Uses: Once or twice a month
Bottom Line: recommended
I shaved my head for several years but hated the "5:00 shadow" toward the end of the day. To stop the shadow and not have to shave every day I started experimenting with dipilitory creams but my skin was too sensitive for chemicals. I also tried an electric epilator but it took too long and was uncomfortable to use where the hair was thick. I tried several waxes but none were strong enough to remove scalp hair except for Zip Wax. It works! I set up a hotplate in the bathroom with simmering water in a pot and the Zip Wax in a metal bowl on top of the simmering water. To avoid burning my scalp I always check the temperature first then apply about 2" stips with a popcycle stick. After it hardens I grab the end and pull quickly. Cloth strips are not necessary. Yes, it does hurt the first couple of times if you still have plenty of hair but after a few waxings it gets more comfortable as your hair thins. There will be no hair left where the wax was applied! It will all be in the wax strip and your scalp will be completely smoothe. When I first started waxing I waxed every couple of weeks but now it's only necessary once a month. After years of monthly waxings with Zip Wax most of the folicles have been killed and I no longer need to shave or deal with a shadow. Between waxings I use the elelctric epilator for touchups to get the fuzz and the occasional stray hair. Zip Wax is the only product that I've found that works. I receommend it highly.
