For people with ingrown hairs or those that do not have the "ideal" effect after using this wax, you should know the steps on what to do before and after waxing. I LOVE this wax! It's kind of like the same wax I used before, which is from France. But I couldn't find them anywhere. I can only find the weak sugar based or honey based, which are just a waste of money! I just got this today and just started waxing almost everything off! For people who aren't used to using this kind of wax, make sure that it's not too hot when you apply on your skin. Make sure you apply going to where the hair is growing, wait for it to harden. It takes a bit more than what I was used to, but it's not that long. When wax has hardened, pull swiftly from where you ended on applying the wax. When you're done with your waxing session, you can use an alcohol free toner, this closes up the pores or use a facial scrub first, then apply toner after washing off scrub.

I started using Zip in high school. I used it for almost two decades. I just loved it, and loved that I could easily remove hair with an at home waxing ritual -- I used it once a week, without fail. I no longer wax, as my skin has become more sensitive. And this is why I am writing this review: I now have a lot of problem with ingrown hairs. I truly believe that it was from years of pulling out my hair from the roots with this product. If I had it to do over, at this point in time, I would opt for a very different procedure or product, no matter the price. Pulling out the hairs by the root, even if it leaves your skin silky now, after years and years, ends up damaging the follicles, and you pay the price down the road. Go for laser; get a hand held eplilation device, anything but at home waxing! Voice of experience: it's a lot more expensive down the road. Don't use it!

Very difficult to use for non-professionals. I don't get where those wonderful reviews come from. It takes at least a pro to use this product. First, when trying to heat it, you cannot use the easy microwave; you have to heat it in a bowl inside a boiling water pot. Let me tell you, it's a mess, wax got everywhere, and you have to prepare to throw a bowl away after using it because the sticky wax won't be washed off at all afterwards. Even after I wasted my bowl, it's still difficult to apply, quite sticky and although I tried to adjust the amount to put onto my skin and try to finger out the right time to take it off. The hair did not come off easily. I'd rather use a ready-to-use cold wax strips, which is easier and saves lots of trouble. Would definitely avoid this kind of product from now on.

I'm a believer- this stuff is awesome!! I've had my chin professionally waxed for YEARS. Occasionally I've tried to do it myself, but never was able to do it. After reading the reviews on drugstore.com, I decided to give Zip a try... THIS is what I've been looking for!! The first time I tried it I put it on too thin and had the same problem others had with it chipping off, etc. The second time I put it on thicker, and it worked PERFECTLY! Honestly, I am just as satisfied with the results as I was with the salon, and this is MUCH cheaper and way more convenient! I used the little 1 qt crockpot, heated up the whole block, and I throw the used wax back in the pot, since it's just for me! The wax is the perfect temp and consistancy. I love this!!

I liked this product..but it had some down sides. First of all its a tiny block of wax, good for maybe 2 wax sessions but that's probably why it said it keeps hair off for a few weeks. I had to re-apply to some places over and over again (which was super painful) to get all the hair. This product is good for fine hair like on your face, but I tried it on my legs where the hair is darker and thicker and it HUUUUURRRRTSSS!!! It kind of complicated to heat considering you can't microwave it(I did anyways and it worked just fine but the instructions say and duel pan thing for maxium results) but all in all its a suitable product.

I have used Zip wax for over 20 years. Some of the negative reviews may be due to a lack of experience. If I want to break it apart, I just knock it on the floor. You don't need Muslim strips for your bikini area. I do a Brazilian Wax and my face without strips. I heat Zip in a white corning ware oven proof/microwave safe container. One box takes between 2-3 minutes. Be very careful not to overheat it. It can scald you badly and remember its wax so it will stick to you! I have found the perfect temperature to be the consistency of honey. If it's too hot, it burns. Too cool, it doesn't stick properly and hence it doesn't remove the hair. A couple of other things... the drier you skin the better. Dust some cornstarch first, apply THICKLY (too thin and you can't pull it off), and rip if off quickly while it's still pliable. Don't let it get completely cold. If you do, it "cracks" and "shatters" and 1) you make a mess, 2) it hurts more) and 3) it doesn't remove as much hair.

My sister introduced me to Zip and I have been using it for over 20yrs. We recently went to our neighborhood drug store and it was not on the shelf after several days of checking. My sister went crazy on me; she literally went to every drug store in town looking for it and nothing. She was told it had been discontinued. I checked the internet and I found your web site. Thank you Lord its awesome and it does work.

zip wax is a MILLION times better than no-tweeze, which I was forced to try as my local Sally's Beauty supply now carries no-tweeze instead. I'm sure it's because Zip Wax is a tad more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Zip Wax is primarily made of bees wax, whereas No-tweeze -- which trumpets what little bees wax it contains -- is primarily made of paraffin, a much cheaper ingredient. If your hairs are at all coarse or stubborn, Zip Wax is really your only choice as a consumer.

I have used zip wax for years. I went to a beauty supply store and bought a melting pot. You have to be careful to wait until the wax is just warm, not hot or it will burn your skin. I usually wash my face, apply moisturizer, then apply the wax. It will get pretty much everything. You just have to be careful that you do not apply it when it is hot. Your fingers are a good way to test but over time you will come to know the look of the wax when it's right. I have never had luck with strips and plucking takes too long. This is the one.
