I had pneumonia recently and found this very effective in getting rid of mucous - I still take it everyday until lungs are completely clear - I had great results from it. The down side is the price - when you take it everyday for an extended amount of time it becomes a bit pricey.

I read a lot of reviews, some of which alleged that this medication was effective at relieving post nasal drip. I took one a day for a week and when I saw no result I took one twice a day for another week. There was no perceptible change in the condition. In all fairness, I have had the condition for over 20 years, so it may take a lot more time to get rid of it. I have tried a number of prescription medications to get rid of the condition and nothing has worked. It may be that others who have this condition and have tried rx meds have food or environmental conditions that do not respond to the medications used, including OTC meds. So the next step should probably be to start to change diet (maybe eliminate dairy products or gluten) and see if that works. If not, then maybe have skin tests for environmental allergens, like tree and grass pollens. It seems that allergies that cause the production of excessive mucous do not respond to musinex.

I am so grateful for this product. I have very small sinus passages and therefore easily get sinus issues. This product thins the mucous and enables my sinuses to drain more readily instead of stopping and getting infection. I use often without any side effects except relief!

Antihistamine ingredients give me an irregular heartbeat. This product doesn't have that side effect for me if I buy the basic formula of Mucinex. I'm glad that it is available.

I am on the Guaifenesin Protocol to reverse the symptoms of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have been on Musinex Expectorant for 6 years. The Guaifenesin does, over time reverse Fibro and the CFS caused by the Fibro, but you have to avoid taking strong extracts, oils or gels that are made with salicylates which will block the Guaifenesin from working properly.
I know most people use this product for softening phlegm, which is what it is on the market to do. Several of my doctors have been recommending this Expectorant to their patients for years if they are looking to reverse FMS. If you type in Musinex and Fibromyalgia you will eventually find the correct information on how to take it.

I never just got a cold; a cold always used to go into bronchitis and a horrible cough necessitating a trip to the doctor and antibiotics. As soon as I get stuffy with a cold now, I start taking Mucinex and whatever infection develops is overcome within a couple of days with no trip to the doctor or prescription medication. This product is a god-send to me!

The pill disolves very quickly so drink water right when you take it. This product worked when my regular day quil and suetephed did not! Expensive buy generic brand works fine. Recommended to me by nurse. I'll keep this on hand.
