The set of 12 always worked well, but since I have waist-length, extremely thick hair, I have been looking for a larger set with more versatility. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. The older model does the same effect that this product gives, only this one seems to heat up much faster and has more versatility with the rollers. I still use the older model on the underlayers of my hair, along with this on the top layers, so I don't have to do several runs of the same process. My hair is dry and very frizzy, and I live in an extremely humid, hot climate making my hair flaws even omore of an issue. Using this, (along with the right conditioners, shampoos, gels and botanical oils) my hair stays frizz-free, shiny, silky, soft and voluminous all day. These fall over and rest on your head and while they are hot burn. This would work for medium or long hair, where you don't need to roll close to the scalp - about like a curling iron. Nice curl but not at all the style I use hot rollers for. For this reason it is not versatile, but suitable for only one type of hairstyle. I don't recommend it. However, I was able to find some hair clips at my local Drugstore that work great and they come in a couple of different sizes. Service and delivery comments: I got it within a week. It was cheaper at Drugstore.com than it was on Amazon and the shipping was included. Befor the rollers arrived I cut my hair off to above my shoulders. I tried the rollers on my short hair and it is so cute! The rollers went in fast and easy. They heat up fast also.
