My lips but better

I guess this is a lipstick people either love or hate. I fall into the first camp. I've worn several NARS lipsticks over the years, but I always assumed Dolce Vita would be as ugly on me as all the other nude lipsticks I'd tried, but I was pleasantly surprised. DV goes on smooth and glossy, and it's about a half shade darker than my naturally rosy pigmented lips. As far as being universally flattering, I am fair with cool skin tone and it looks fantastic. I loved Dolce Vita so much I immediately purchased another. It's really a perfect shade for a natural, no make-up look (even though that look takes as many as 10 products!). Maybe it's on the pricier side, but it's a value for me because I know I will use it right down to a nub. I can't count all the MAC, Prescriptives, Bobbie Brown, Dior, Chanel, and Clinique lipsticks that are sitting around in my vanity, barely used. Dolce Vita is a keeper.

I can't believe I paid [$] for a tinted chapstick. That's all this is, not to mention seems like a tiny tube compared to other brands. Thought I'd give NARS a try, but I'm going back to Chanel and Dior. They know color.

This is crummy lipstick, wears out almost immediately, and dries my lips like crazy. Don't waste your money. -As an aside,I really don't understand all the hype surrounding Nars cosmetics. They have a blush with a naughty name, it compliments most skin tones (many blushes are equal or better) , so all of a sudden they're the Holy Grail of cosmetics?If I'm going to spend [$] on lipsick, I can get 4 Cover Girl or Maybelline lipsticks, 3 Loreal lipsticks, or even 2 M.A.C. lipsticks; and all those brands are better than Nars, and they all smell so much better.

I bought this product based on the reviews and have been thrilled. It is subtle but still clearly shows you are wearing lipstick (although without the need for lip liner) and I now make sure I have one with me at all times. Even without other make up, I feel "dressed" with this lipstick.

I was looking for something lighter and more sheer than my MAC Twig. Dolce Vita from Nars was it! I am Chinese, and a little more tanned as I live in South Florida. Warm, earthy tones look best on me. I typically wear this with little dab of MAC Twig applied first, as that is a semi-matte lipstick, and provides a little stain and base for the Dolce Vita to hold onto, and not come off as quickly (as other reviewers have confirmed). I will eventually buy the Dolce Vita crayon/pencil to use in place of the MAC Twig to help intensify the color a bit more.

My daily everyday lipstick, I bought this after reading that it was universally flattering. I am medium skin tone with yellow undertones, and dark blond/ light brown hair, and this color looks great. I have really full naturally pinkish red lips, and a lot of shades look clown-like on me. Nudes are often lighter than my own skin tone and also look silly.) This looks like natural but better. The texture and smell are also nice, and it's lasted me a long time.
