We've used many conventional & chemical laundry soaps in the past, as well as tried numerous natural, eco & organic ones in the more recent 6 yrs... Undoubtedly the best option if you want the best preformance, cleanliness & safest health (especially severe eczema, allergies, etc.). PS- Personally called the company to see if "free & clear" had any soy sources or like softeners. Their straightforward answer was "no, it's the only one that does not". Clearly this is great for those who want/need to stay away from soy, as we had to. I knew they were telling the truth when we tried it & the flare up from the previous soap (same ingredients plus the soy softener) was gone by morning, but would keep returning whenever something was worn that I had not rewashed w/the "free & clear" soap yet. Enjoy!

I have been on a quest to find a fragrance-free green laundry detergent for HE front loaders that cleans well, but does not cause problems for my family's sensitive skin & noses. I am still searching. Unfortunately, I used Ecos Free & Clear for a few loads, and then, I determined it was causing my son to sneeze. After the sneezing started, I researched some of the plant-based ingredients in the Allergy-Free Gardening book by Thomas Leo Ogren. Ecos contains chamomile, horsetail, and soapbark, all of which are allergenic according to this book. Thomas Ogren rates plants on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most allergenic. I wish I would have looked up the plants before I purchased the laundry detergent. Chamomile is a 7, horsetail (5 or 10-more than one horsetail in book), and soapbark (4). I do not recommend using Ecos Free & Clear because you never know when a close contact may be sensitive to these plants.
This product was recommended to me. I looked it up and was unsure of how effective it would be since the ingredients are so simple. Turns out it works great. Didn't give me any allergic reactions and made my clothes clean. I actually found it took lint and dog hair out of my clothes really well compared to Tide (which I was using before). It doesn't have a scent of course and I'm ok with that. I don't HAVE to use a fabric softener with this product but I do because I'm a fabric softener fan. The only con (that ended up not being a con unless you need to see suds to think something is clean) is it doesn't sud as well as tide which concerned me at first but it turned out ok since I saw my clothes were clean. I will buy this product again.

I have severe allergies to preservatives, fragrances and dyes. Ecos' cleaning power beats other free and clear products hands down, but the spout needs work. Pouring is messy and it goes everywhere but in the cap. But I still love it!
Recently turned "green." As someone that is very clean and picky I was skeptical that this would work as well as Tide. I have to say I'm impressed. In full disclosure, I still use a Tide pre-treat spray on stains and I'm only washing adult clothes (not extra dirty children's clothes). Another bonus is that it takes so little per load.
Fill to line 2 for large loads. Fill to line 1 for medium lads. For tough spots and stains, pour concentrate directly onto stain; rub lightly and wash as usual.
Note: For HE front loader, use half the above amount. Effective in high heat to 185 degrees F. Due to the fact that natural ingredients are used, color and body may very.
