Weleda Skin Food rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 51 customer reviews.Great product!
by pug1015[Verified Reviewer] in ND on 2/24/09
Pros: Goes On Smoothly, Moisturizes Well, Smells Great, Softens Skin
Cons: Doesn't Absorb Well, Too Greasy or Heavy
Best Uses: After Shower/Bath, Bedtime, Deep Moisturization, Dry/Chapped Skin, Winter Dryness
Bottom Line: recommended
This is the only thing I have found that actually keeps my super dry face from flaking. My normally dry face became very extremely dry and flaky because of pregnancy hormones along with our cold, dry winter air. I use this morning and night and it keeps the flakes away and my skin glowing. It is great for dry skin like mine, but would probably be too much for someone with normal or oily skin. The only cons are that it doesn't absorb that quickly and it feels a bit greasy, but I don't mind since my skin is so parched! Would be great on elbows and heels, although I only use it on my face.

I bought this product after using Dr. Scholl's Mint Foot Cream which is great. I was impressed with the ingredients, reviews, and reputation of the company even though this product costs twice as much. I use it on my feet daily as I do my own pedicures. It does not do much at all, is to thick to go on as easily as the former product, and does not absorb as quickly. Next I am going to try the Curel Foot Cream as it is half the price of Dr. Scholl's. It that experiment does not go well, it's back to Dr. Scholl's. Sorry I have nothing good to say about the product. Like the first poor report on Weleda, I am an honest but odd man out!

Pros: Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Softens Skin
Best Uses: Bedtime, Deep Moisturization, Winter Dryness

This is the best nighttime moisturizer I've used in the past 20 years. Some may find it too heavy, but I have very dry skin and it works. I've tried others that are too much like Vaseline / petroleum jelly - this cream is absorbed and makes skin very soft.

Pros: Goes On Smoothly, Heavenly fragrance, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Softens Skin
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: Bedtime, Deep Moisturization, Dry/Chapped Skin, Winter Dryness
I can't imagine how anyone couldn't LOVE the fragrance - like pure orange zest - nothing artificial about it. I've been using it on my hands during the day & right before bed. It is incredibly moisturizing & makes your nails glisten beautifully. Your skin feels softer than it ever has before. After using a particularly drying product on my face, I decided to rescue my parched & peeling facial skin with this dream cream. It is so thick that I decided to apply it to my face by rubbing a small amount into the palms of both hands, and then pressing my palms all over my face. It worked beautifully & my skin was glowing & back to normal in no time.

Pros: Goes On Smoothly, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Softens Skin
Cons: Bad Smell
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: After Sun, Bedtime, Deep Moisturization, Dry/Chapped Skin, Winter Dryness

I like this product however I wish the scent were better. Both my husband and I feel the scent is a bit off. It's hard to describe - it smells kind of herb-like or medicine-like to me. I have used this periodically for a few months and am still adjusting to the scent. That being said, the product is nice overall. It has a pleasant, emolliant texture. I like it on the bottoms of my dry feet. Sometimes I slather it on thickly and then keep socks on over that for a few hours. Very moisturizing, and my feet need it! It is also nice on your hands, cuticles, elbows. I have used it only once on my face....it feels like but again, the smell is not to my liking. Overall, I am glad I tried this product and may buy it again, assuming I can continue to tolerate the smell which I don't really like that much!

I LOVE Skin Food. It's free of dangerous chemicals that are in so many other lotions. The packaging is recyclable: good for the environment. My face was painfully dry from winter but Skin Food was instant relief: moisturized quicker and longer than any other lotion I had. Definitely recommend it.

Best night cream. It always works really well compared to other night creams. Weleda is a European body care brand with a long tradition for natural ingredients and homeopathic products.

Awesome stuff. Bought it for my extremely dry, cracked hands and it has worked beautifully in healing them. Recently, my cheeks broke out in itchy bumps from my overusing scrubs & serums. After a couple of days, I decided to put Skin Food on my face as my night cream, and the next morning the bumps were about 75% reduced! And the itchiness was gone. By day 3 my face was bump free and glowing. I was hesitant to try it on my face, which is pretty sensitive, but I'm so glad that I did. A wonderful product.
