With my naturally wavy hair, I had trouble getting the smooth look I wanted with just a large curling iron. This does the trick! It heats up really fast and has cut off about a third of my previous styling time . . . with better results that last all day! I highly recommend! For...Read complete review Frame of reference, I also own a Conair Instant Heat large barrel curling iron which is what I have been using to straighten my hair (sounds weird but it can be done.) For the Conair Slim Straightener the PROS: It heats up quickly for those times when you're in a rush. I like the slim design because you can easily get up close to the root of your hair easily. It's easy to get the ends straight. CONS: I thought it was going to heat up hotter than it does - the settings on this go up to 25, the setting on my curling iron go up to 20 - both seem to heat to about the same level. It takes just as long if not a hint longer to straighten my hair. There is a piece of plastic after the heating plates to keep them from pressing together too hard - it's easy to close it on your hair accidentally which hurts. Would I buy it again? No. Will I continue to use it? Probably - at least when I want fast straight ends. Would I recommend this to anyone else? Probably not. Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: I have almost straight hair but I use it when my hair has its bad days. I got it for just [$] at a local store. It works well but I'm not sure if it would for really frizzy and hard to manage hair. And remember to use a heat protection spray. Best Uses Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: So I know using a straightener damages hair, but this one is great. It's so cheap and has been the best of all the straighteners I've owned. It heats up quickly, works fast, doesn't snag, and leaves my hair shiny and straight. It's lasted forever and I don't plan on replacing it. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (3 of 3 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: I've had this straightener for a long time now - maybe about 3 years. Originally I just bought it to straighten the little bangs I had when I had dreads and I was attracted to it because of it's slim plates. I've since cut off my dreads and I now have a short bob. I normally dry my hair with my drier and round brush, then I straighten the pieces closest to the front to undo that little curl under I get from the brush. It works really well for me. Granted, I have naturally shiny, slightly wavy, fine hair so that may be why it works so well for me. I've never had a problem with too little heat or any of the other major complaints I've seen in other reviews. One thing I have experienced is occasionally getting my hair snagged in the plastic part where the two plates meet, but not enough to really call it a complaint. I actually always just figured it was my mistake for clamping down too early or putting my hair too close to the plastic part.....a company can't prevent the USER error :-) Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (3 of 3 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: I love this product cuz its versatile, fast and easy to use. I have long wavy hair with layers in front and unruly bangs. If i want to remove frizz out of my hair and keep my curl i use it for a few seconds on a low setting. If i want it stick straight i use higher settings. It straightens and styles bangs. I have funky layers in front and with this iron i can make them straight, curl them in to frame my face or flip them out to create a more tousled look. It heats up fast and takes minutes to do my whole head. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (3 of 3 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? By Anonymous from Undisclosed Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! The first time I tried to use it, it immediately burned my hair off at the roots. Horrible product that shouldn't even be on the market. By Sara from Undisclosed Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: This hair straightener is horrible. I used it as my back up hair straightener after my good one broke and it's like "my first hair straightener." I'm sure it would work on barbies or cabbage patch dolls but not on real people. Definitely would not recommend this product. (0 of 2 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Conair 3/4" Ceramic Straightener, Model CS4VCS, 1 ea: Even with the turbo heat on, it still doesn't get hot enough to really straighten my thick coarse hair. But for the low price, it's a decent iron. I use it mostly when I'm travelling because it's compact and light weight. It heats up and cools down pretty quickly. If you want a quality straightener, you have to spend a lot more money. I use a Chi ceramic flat iron for everyday, although it's very expensive, bulky and heavy. But it does a great job.
