Dr. Scholl's Freeze Away Wart Remover rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 54 customer reviews. Not as good as liquid nitrogen
by Kristina[Verified Reviewer] in Honolulu, HI on 7/9/09
Pros: Easy To Use
Cons: Doesn't Work
Bottom Line: not recommended
I used this product on both a large wart on one of my toes and on a couple very small flat warts on my fingers. I've used liquid nitrogen plenty of times on my patients and have seen it work well. After paring down the dead skin on the warts, I used this product EXACTLY as the package instructions stated. There was very little discomfort, and it was difficult to get the skin of the wart to actually turn white longer than a second or two, which to me says that this product simply doesn't get or stay cold enough. I used 17% salicylic acid in between treatments with the FreezeAway (2 weeks apart), and the salicylic acid did a lot more than this silly product. It was an interesting experiment, but I'm now sporting two nice blisters from a real liquid nitrogen treatment on my fingers; I don't expect those warts to stick around. For the larger wart, I'm using a 40% salicylic acid plaster as it's too close to the nail to freeze without risking damage to the nail bed. Most warts don't require a doctor to treat, but they do require patience. Salicylic acid works over time. I don't really see how this product works at all.

by Mom of boys[Verified Reviewer] in Brooklyn, NY on 4/21/09
Pros: No doctor visit
Cons: Took a while
Bottom Line: recommended
My son had a few painful plantar warts and he didn't want to go to the doctor so I tried this product. It took about 2 or 3 treatments and you have to wait 2 weeks between treatments but it worked. The warts turned black and they fell off. I'm surprised at all the negative reviews. I think you have to read the instructions well. I used a stopwatch to time the treatments according to the chart in the booklet and it worked as advertised.

Cons: Doesn't Work

It says in one treatment - I bought this TWICE with more than a dozen of applications but my wart on my finger just gotten bigger & they've multiplied. It's not strong enough to kill it. Never will recommend this product. Go see a doctor instead.
Dr. Scholl's Freeze Away Wart Remover rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 54 customer reviews.WORKS, but on THIN skin ONLY
by Anonymous[Verified Reviewer] in World on 6/20/08
Pros: Healing
Cons: Limited effectiveness
Best Uses: Quick Fix
Bottom Line: recommended
This product WORKS.... HOWEVER, the wart must be small and on thin skin like the back of the hand. It will not work on warts on the soles or palms because it's not cold enough to penetrate the tough skin.

You have to follow the instructions carefully for this product to work. If you don't, the wart will not be destroyed. This product was good for me in that it removed the warts after 1 treatment. It was painful -- you are essentially giving yourself frostbite. You get a lesion that scabs over, and falls off after about 7 days, leaving a pink mark and no wart. For me, the pink marks lasted for several months and then faded completely. I would recommend taping the treatment site with a Band-Aid or athletic tape for about a week, to limit the possibility of infection, or spreading the wart virus to other areas. Keep the area clean and dry. It is best to go to the doctor to get warts removed, but if you can't, this product can work too.

It worked for me. I did have to use two applications though. Cheaper than going to the doctor! Not painful at all. I used the gel and it didn't work at all - such a rip off.

If I could, I'd vote it "0 Stars". It didn't even come CLOSE to burning. Instead, it appears my wart spread.

This product is garbage I used it about 5 times. All that ended up happening was that I ended up burning myself and the warts were still there. Really go to a doctor the product is awful!
