I've been told to use this stuff since I was 26 and started breaking out. I'm 45 now and I finally got sick of all the blah, blah, blah about this prduct and broke down and bought it. Oh my heck! It works. My acne did not get worse, (it's not exactly gone, and I'm not sure it wil ever be), but it removes makeup, does not strip my skin and leaves it feeling like my boys hind ends when they were babies. I always thought I had to strip my skin to get it clean. I was wrong. It does take off most, but not all eye-makeup, so I have a seperate remover for that (Almay Oil Free), but if I put it on a cotton ball and rub it around my eyes it works. I hate taking off eye makeup, so this is wonderful. I use it with a soft puff, or washcloth to remove it (wet) and it makes my face feel and look wonderful. Okay, as wonderful as it gets. Go away zits! I'm about to start a mini-protest in my bathroom, complete with sgns. LOL!

I'm 41 and have tried dozens of facial cleansers over the years. My skin is oily and acne-prone. Cetaphil is by far the best cleanser I've used. Dermatologists recommend this product because it works. After washing, my skin feels soft and smooth and the light, clean scent is a bonus. My 10 year old daughter uses this as well. The pump bottle is easy to use and very convenient. It also lasts a long time. Cetaphil is a clear liquid that doesn't foam or lather but it cleanses well and rinses beautifully without leaving skin dry and tight. As others have noted on this site, pay attention to which cleanser you buy. The Daily Cleanser is totally different from the Gentle Cleanser. I've tried both and find that the Gentle Cleanser does not work for me at all. If you have oily skin, you'll probably be much happier with the Daily Cleanser. It's an excellent product.

Remove all the oil

This is a great product. I have mild to sever oily skin, and this cleanser is the best thing I have ever used. The substance is watery and does not suds up. It washes off very easily and leaves your skin feeling clean and soft. I have seen noticeable improvement in my skin in as little as 2 days. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has oily skin.

I used this on my oily face at a friend's house and was stunned once I squirted the cleanser into my palm, a clear, water-like substance came out while I was expecting something more along the lines of a regular cream or gel cleanser. It lathered well and washed off easily, and though I applied moisturizer right after drying my face, the next day I noticed severe dryness around my nose and nothing special about the way it cleansed. It wasn't bad, though I wouldn't go for this when you can use more reliable Neutrogena, Biore or Clean & Clear products.

I've been using Noxema for years until Cetaphil came out with their daily facial cleanser and it's the best.

I was using Purpose cleanser and decided to give Cetaphil (normal to oily) a go because it seems to be well-rated. I was disappointed in the Cetaphil because 1) it has a very strong scent, which isn't unpleasant but seems unnecessary in a soap that is supposed to be gentle enough for sensitive skin, and 2) it also leaves a residue on my face that looks and feels greasy through the day. I used it for a week and have just switched back to Purpose. Purpose makes my face feel tight after I use it but after I put on my moisturizer it feels fine.

I have oily, acne-prone skin. I use a number of topical treatments, and I worried if acne-specific cleansers were making finding the right regimen with the topical treatments tricky. This is a good "neutral" cleanser--it certainly doesn't moisturize (which I don't want), but neither does it over-dry. It simply cleans my skin, leaving me to apply moisturizer and/or acne cream according to my skin's needs. The pump dispenser is tidy & convenient, though I probably would still use the product if it were packaged differently.

Cetaphil was recommnded to me in middle school by my dermatologist. I've never had any complaints and it works well. However, the packaging is a little deceptive because what most people don't realize is there are 2 distinct products. If you happen to get the wrong one for your skin type you will be sorely disappointed in the product. It is important for consumers to pay close attention to what product they are purchasing. One time I accidently purchased the one for all skin types and I instantly knew the difference. I ended up breaking out because there was too much moisturizer. The normal to oily Daily Cleanser which is the one I use is more for individuals who have moderate to severe acne/blemishes. Where as the Gentle Liquid Cleanser for All Skin Types is more for people with Dry to Normal Skin. If you happen to have moderately oily skin you may have to discuss it with your dermatologist to determine exactly which product will work best for you. Just like with any product it is important for the consumer to be educated on the products they are consdering before using to make sure they are using the correct product. Cetaphil has been around for decades and has been dermatologist recommended just as long. Granted products change over the years but I can say with confidence as a user of the product since the 80s this product hasn't had a formula change since I started using it and if it has it has been changed it was insignificant.

My Dermatologist uses and recommends this product. I have super super oily, sensitive skin with rosecea (a horriblel combo to have). Ever since my Doc had me washing with this product, my face isn't irritated, but yet clean. Other products I used made my face red and flared up my rosecea. This does what it says--removes dirt and oil. My face sometinmes felt dry, but never to the point where is started to peel. As for the smell: it's a cleanser--what do you want it to smell like?
