Best Uses: Coarse hair, Thicker Hair

Bottom Line: recommended

People with thick, coarse textured hair. I love this conditioner! It leaves my hair super soft & smooth. It is pricey but you only need a little bit & the end result is fantastic. You should use a shampoo like Neutrogena Anti Residue or Suave Daily Clarifying every few washes as it can build up like most emollient shampoos & conditoners do.

I have thick, naturally wavy, Asian hair and this conditioner is the only one that I trust to use whether I wear it natural or straightened. I've used this for about two years now and don't plan on changing it up anytime soon. If I use someone else's conditioner, I notice right away that my hair is not as moisturized. A few friends have also used my conditioner and are pleasantly surprised at how soft their hair is. The best conditioner for my hair!

I have had problems in the shower with having to apply conditioner like 5 times to my hair to make it manageable. This conditioner/balm makes my hair smooth in just 1 or 2 applications. I can actually run my fingers through my hair. Amazing!

Currently I am living in a hot climate that exceeds 120 degrees in the summer. The water here is very hard and really leaves my hair dry. I thought this product would help, however it left a very heavy and sticky feeling to it. I would not recommend!

This balm is the best deep conditioner I've ever used! I have crazy highlights and get the thermal-Japanese straightening every few months. Usually, I'd have to go cut my hair because it gets too damaged. But now, thanks to this, I can grow it out! This is a little pricy, so I mix this with other deep conditioners, and it works just as great.

I like this conditioner because it leaves my hair soft and smelling nice but it does weigh it down and it gets greasy fast. Like the previous reviewer, I used Sleek Look by Matrix before, and I'm definitely going back. I don't like the jar design because water seems to get inside in my small shower I don't have a place to keep it that the water doesnt get to it so I've been storing it on the floor outside my shower for lack of a better place. Maybe it would be better on a different type of hair; I have sort of thick, shoulder length curly hair.

Since I have been using Sleek Look by Matrix and love that product line, I thought I would try Biolage. BIG MISTAKE! Biolage Ultra Hydrating Balm is neither hydrating nor a balm. It's this goopy messy stuff that shouldn't ever be put in a jar, and it did not "hydrate" my hair. It coated my already thick coarse hair with something that made my hair feel even thicker, coarser, and weighted down. I had a week of bad hair days, before I stopped using Biolage and went back to Sleek Look. I'll never switch again.
