L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Lotion, Medium Natural Tan rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 43 customer reviews.Good if you live in a humid area....
by Pale Irish Girl[Verified Reviewer] in Colorado on 8/1/08
Pros: Even Tan, Natural Tan, Works Quickly
Cons: Dries Too Quickly
Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented
Best Uses: Body
Bottom Line: recommended
In theory, I loved the quick-dry formula because there is nothing worse than waiting around for your sunless tanner to dry so you can get dressed. But in practice, it dries SO quickly that it is nearly impossible to apply it before it dries and gets tacky (especially over large areas like legs and torso) which results in streaks. Of course, I live in a very dry area so maybe it would work better in a humid climate.... Aside from drying too quickly, it's a good product. The color is natural, develops quickly, and lasts a long time. The slight tint makes it easy to apply without streaks (except when it dries too quickly!). I don't love the smell, but I don't mind it either. At least it doesn't have that signature "fake tan" smell.

Pros: Even Tan, Natural Tan, Not Greasy, Works Quickly

I have been using this for 2 days now. The color developed quickly & is a natural tan color. Even though I have very light skin I went with the medium shade & it's just about right. I haven't seen any streaking & I wore a pair of white capri pants all day yesterday & the product did not rub off on my clothes. I couldn't even smell the product once it dried, none of that ghastly fake tanner smell. I also like the slight tint it has which gives an instant glow. The only drawback so far is the glitter. Yesterday it wasn't quite so noticeable but today I think I look very sparkly even though I used the same amount both days. The product could have done without this unnecessary ingredient. Other than that, I will have to wait & see how it goes. I've had problems with tanners in the past not wearing off evenly & ending up splotchy in a few days. Every self tanner I've every used has done that to me other than the Aveeno moisturizer/tanner combo but it didn't give enough color. I exfoliate thoroughly before applying & keep my legs shaved & moisturized but still have had terrible luck in the past with the color coming off in patches. If the color stays on well I will probably keep using this in spite of the glitter in it. However, I wouldn't try it on my face because of the sparkly aspect of it.

Beats the price of spray tans and you don't get that nasty taste in your mouth! Great Product. I mainly use this product on my legs, but I've also used it on my stomach and back. Good color with minimal to no streaks. I do notice after a few days that it can look a tad blotchy but I agree with another review that it can probably be taken care of by daily moisturizing. Tips for applying: use a loofah/exfoliate in the shower and moisturize all over with a good lotion before applying (I use Curel). Apply right after you get out of shower and it only takes a minute to dry while you are getting ready. Rub a good amount between palms and then smooth over body parts as evenly & fast as possible. I do one lower leg at a time and then the upper half. Use the excess to rub over top of feet and toes and around knees. Wash your hands immediately after with soap. It may take a couple tries to get it right. 2 days on and then 3-4 days off gives me natural looking color.

Let me start off by saying this product was incredible. It didn't leave me orange at all but a nice toasty brown (like the other reviewer said). The only problem is that it dries too quickly to apply an even coat to my legs. Therefore, it streaks. It does help a lot if you use gloves though. And the best thing about this product was that it wasn't sticky, left a lovely brown color, and had no smell. I would apply it before going to bed (after I showered) and wake up with no glitter on me, but a nice tan. (There is glitter in the lotion, but you don't notice it that much.) Overall I'd give it 4 stars.

This stuff is amazing! I'm pale with both yellow and pink undertones (primarily yellow, with rosy cheeks), and I've looked for the perfect, non-streaky instant tan forever! Seriously, I've tried 90% of products out there. I love that this stuff dries quickly, because then I can hop into bed without messing up my sheets! It does leave a very shimmery finish, but I personally think that's pretty darn fun and that washes off the next time you shower after using this. If you apply it correctly, it absolutely doesn't streak. It doesn't leave you orange, but a nice toasty brown. I really hope drugstore.com keeps it in stock year-round, otherwise I'll have to start stockpiling it!

This product is awesome! I'm redheaded and very fair complected, and after exfoliating with those scratchy gloves, the next morning I apply "Medium" with rubber gloves. IMPORTANT:I will leave this product on ONLY for one - 1 1/2 hours or I turn an unsightly oompa loompa orange for 5 days after it washes off!! Halfway into this hour, on my hands, I use Sublime Bronze "dual-action Medium for face." I then rinse my entire body with Suave Green apple Shampoo--It smells clean, and your natural looking tan appears in about 3 hours and stays for 5 days. :) I've tried all sublime products, and the spray looks like gator skin, the clear gets you darker but is streaky, but this glittery looking stuff works best and isn't streaky--feels slimy when you wash it off but who cares, you look great!:)

I have been using Medium/Dark for the last couple of years. Got replaced by the Medium Natural Tan in new formula. The first couple of times it dried so quickly that my hands would stop gliding across my skin as I rubbed it in. Like, when it dries and I'm still rubbing, the product actually MOVES so that there is an area that previously had some product on it which now has none and the product was doubled wherever my hand stopped gliding. Suffice it to say I'm done with this product. Even after I did some online research and decided to apply lotion first, it goes on better, but is still so incredibly streaky, it could never be described as "streak-free." Loreal said product was still available, but if I couldn't find it, I could try one of their stores in L.A. or Farmington, CT. I was told it was "upgraded" to the medium natural tan product and my lovely product was no longer available. I'm really surprised it passed product testing -- incredibly, utterly stupefied!

The pros of this product are that you do develop color fast. If used properly, it won't leave you fake orange. It is also streak free, so long as you blend well. Try putting lotion on knees and ankles beforehand. The cons are that the color isn't so much a tanner as it is paint. After one shower with moderate soaping, the color leaked off and went down the drain. Within two days you're back to your normal color. The lotion feels sticky all day and as time wears on, it makes you smell un-showered and moldy. It also has this dumb touch of tacky glitter, which really just looks like you bathed in horrible fake sparkles. It's better than just being pasty, but I would keep looking elsewhere first. Try something that doesn't leave fake glitter and doesn't melt off when it comes in contact with water.

I'm a teenager, and already I'm trying to find a way to be tan without the use of harmful UVA/UVB rays. I am absolutely AMAZED with the results I have gotten with this product. I've used a lot of self-tanners such as the Jergen's Natural Glow, but it left me streaky and ORANGE. As soon as you get out of the shower, apply the lotion. Right away you can see a difference. It goes on as a bronze-like color so that you can see where you're applying it. Within ONE hour, I reached optimum results!! I didn't look orange, it dried immediately, and there were no visible lines of where I had applied it!! Like the directions state, you can use it daily until you have reached the level of darkness that you prefer. I used it 2 days in a row, and I'm already as dark as I want to be. All you have to do is apply it once or twice a week to maintain the tan. I never thought I'd look this natural with a self-tanner! I'm shocked! I love this stuff and will be buying again and again!!!!!!

I've tried several self-tanners ranging from inexpensive drug store brands to expensive department store brands. Nothing comes close to this product. Not only does it go on very smooth and streak-free (as long as you exfoliate before applying), it provides very natural-looking color and a flirty little shimmer. It also smells good. (I'm big on scents. This product truly is outstanding and a bargain.
