Good base shape for holding - could use a little bit of grip material (rubber or coarse edge) to keep from slipping out of hand when wet. Very comfortable on skin and works great with the soaps.

For the price, you can't beat it. All badger brushes have some "wet dog/roadkill" smell, but this one lingers for about two weeks rather than two days as more expensive ones do. That's a small issue, however, and does not affect its utility. Since it is "pure badger" rather than best/fine/finest/silver, expect stiff bristles. This, of course, makes lather building a slightly longer process than softer bristles. This is a starter brush!

It is surprising what a difference a choice in brush can make. It is much easier to get lather and coverage on your face. The feel is nicer than the cheaper ones too.

In a time when pure boar badger bristle shaving brushes typically cost $65 and up, this little beauty does the job just as well as the expensive ones -- and lasts just as long (I got more than two years out of my last one).

One needs to learn how to use a shaving brush and soaps and creams made for shaving, and for a brush. The right water and soap mix is important and can be determined with trial and error. Good soaps and creams also make much better lather. Also the right prep of the face before applying lather. I have used much more expensive brushes and this one is really good for the money. A little scratchy, but it is genuine badger hair and much better than the Van der Hagen boar brush, which is not very good. If you want to try wet shaving, this brush is recommended. The knot did come out of mine, but that was probably because I tapped it too hard against my hand to get the water out. I put it back with epoxy. And the smell will go away with time. After all, it is real animal hair!

I couldn't get over the smell of a wet animal - beaver, I presume. Other than that, the quality seems to be fine. I thought the smell would go away after a few uses, but it didn't. I used it in the shower with Ivory soap, soft water, and no cup - just my hand, and didn't generate all that much suds. I get more foam out of my Buf-Puf Back Scrub, so I'm back to using that.

Best shaving brush for the money. Cheaper brushes fall apart. This seems to be very durable. Bristles very comfortable; lathers nicely.

My wife gave this to me after I had started using a boar bristle brush. The difference is amazing -- it is way more soft on my skin, and helps the soap lather quickly. I enjoy shaving now. The only downside is that the brush does not come with a stand, and works best when hanging down. I finally found a little plastic brush stand, so now it is hanging, but it would be nice if there were oine to match the nice woden handle.

Moisten face with warm water to soften hairs. Wet Shaving Brush, shake off excess water, and rotate Brush over shaving soap to create desired amount of lather. Apply lather in a circular scrubbing motion to shaving area.
