I have always had an itchy scalp and had to use a weekly treatment. Now that I use this shampoo daily, I have had no problems for over a year. I use a different conditioner, for moisture and sleekness.

I bought this and the matching conditioner at my stylist's recommendation to deal with my itchy, flaky scalp. I've been using them twice a week for several months now. I can't say much bad about the product and will finish up the bottles, but I'll go back to using Nizoral once a week to deal with the flaking (which it does much better for me than the Aveda) and my KMF shampoos & conditioners (which moisturize better).

I've never been a huge fan of Aveda products, so the only reason I purchased this and the matching conditioner is because of all the positive reviews I've read. I've been having a hard time trying to find a shampoo to help clear up my scalp, since it was starting to get dry, itchy and flaky due to using harsh shampoos. This shampoo I think is meant to be used maybe 1-2x a week. I am using it daily now to help clear up my scalp, after it clears, I will go back to using a more moisturizing shampoo. This shampoo I find is very drying, but I did give it 3 stars, because it works. Be patient with this. It takes a few shampoos to kick in and then your really notice a difference. I also love the spicy smell of this (smells like pepper). I will buy this again, but like I said, only limit my usage to when I need it.

I was having problems with dry scalp due to the summer heat and chlorine from the pool. I tried this shampoo and loved it! It healed my scalp and my hair looks great. I have long hair and everyone comments on how healthy it looks, especially the ends (I use the conditioner as well).

I had bleached my hair numerous times last year and it was extremely dry, frizzy and flat. It was breaking off in chunks! My scalp was flaky and itchy -- an utter nightmare. I tried this product after reading several positive reviews. It is wonderful! The scent is herbal-ly and can take some getting used to, but I like it. After using, my hair is soft and fluffy and seems to be growing in faster and thicker. It stopped breaking (thank goodness!) there is no hair stuck in my hairbrush now! I am so happy with this product. I use the conditioner also. It is very light, but detangles my hair nicely and makes it soft and shiny.

This is hands down the best shampoo and conditioner ever! I have very thick hair which caused a lot of flaking and itching. I tried Paul Mitchell Tea Tree, and tar shampoo, neither one of those gave me relief. This cleared up my scalp within a week, not to mention the great smell, and keeps my hair silky smooth!

I am in shock.
I have tried numerous products (prescription shampoo, Head and Shoulders, Neutrogena, etc.) to try to control my embarrassing,itchy, flaky scalp. This shampoo (and conditioner) helped after the first use. The added bonus was that it made my hair really soft and manageable.
I don't like the scent all that much, but I'd wasted so much money on different products that didn't work, that I didn't mind. I found that the scent doesn't linger after I wash the products out, anyway. I was at my wit's end when I found this shampoo and I'm glad I gave it a try.

I absolutely love this shampoo! I have used many of Aveda's products and this is by far my favorite. I thought that it would leave my hair dry, but in fact it felt softer and better moisturized than it did when I used Aveda's moisturizing shampoo. I would definitely recommend this product...in fact, I have! My best friend started using it and he loves it. His scalp was very dry and he said that within 2 uses it was better and his hair had never been so soft!

Ack, the smell...cinnamon over a herbal-type scent that made me literally gag -- but I soldiered on for a week. It claims to be a "balancing" shampoo, but it did nothing to balance my oily scalp. Plus the awful scent lingers! Money down the drain!

I had a rash (itchy and bumpy) on my scalp after a reaction to a hair coloring product. It lasted for over a month and I tried several scalp treatments. This was the product that finally stopped the itching and the bumps. I think the Echinacea in this really makes it effective.
