I never really had bad breakouts until I was about 20. I have drier, sensitive skin which tends to flare up whenever I get stressed/or have hormonal flucations due to the pill, etc. After a particularly stressful November/December, I had the worst case of acne I had had in a long time. I tried the L'Oreal kit which is good, but the cleanser is way too gritty and irritating for me. It did clear up my face, but then it made me break out from irritation.
So I tried this kit on a whim. I love it. Much gentler than the L'Oreal kit, which is great for oilier skin, but not for me. I'm a big Neutrogena fan anyway, and I have always had success with their products. I love that the day lotion has an SPF 15. Also do not use the night lotion all over your face. Affected areas only, people...that means where the zits are. Leave the rest alone, and use a very small amount. My skin looked better after 3 days. Not kidding. It's literally glowing, smooth, and clear. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

I've tried all sorts of medications including Proactiv, but nothing comes close to Neutrogena Advanced Solutions acne treatment. After the first week I started to see an improvement. | I'm 22 and have had mild ... by Elizabeth in Lubbock, TX on 2/12/07I'm 22 and have had mild acne since I was 13. I started using this about 8 months ago, and within ONE WEEK I could tell a difference! Personally, I only use the night lotion as a spot treatment every few days because my skin is so sensitive. But that's all I need, because put that stuff on a zit once or twice and it's as good as gone! The day lotion is my absolute favorite! My skin doesn't feel overly dry or tight, and afterward, and it doesn't get greasy during the day either! It has SPF which is important when using acne treatments. But one of the best things this lotion has to offer that few others do is what they call "dermablends". Basically, it soothes and reduces redness. And because each of the parts works in balance with the other products in treating your acne, you can scale your program up (using all the products every day) or down (using the night lotion as a spot treatment a few times a week) without losing its effectiveness. I HIGHLY recommend at least giving this treatment system a try. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

It did dry out my skin for the first week or so, but once my face got used to it, it stopped. (I just used LOTS of lotion!!!) Then I ran out of the cleanser but not the rest of the kit, and was unable to find just the cleanser to buy. I am not going to buy a whole other kit just for the cleanser. I recommend using a toner alomg with this product! But you have to follow the directions on the box!! Let the night lotion soak in slowly (dont rush)- (same with the day lotion!) and don't give up if it didn't work the first 2 weeks. You have to use it consistently! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

This type of product can be very drying to your skin, so use it moderately. (Once per day is usually enough). I would highly recommend this product to anyone, even if acne is not a problem. It cleared up a lot of the little bumps near my hair line, and the occasional ginormous pimple we all get. It does dry out the skin, but I have really oily skin, so it works well. I used the day lotion for about a month, but it starting making my skin more oily and did nothing for the redness, so I gave it to my mom. Then I started using Neutrogena Clear Pore Toner in the morning with the Almay makeup line for oily skin, which works great. Overall, I loved what this has done for my skin. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
 To be blunt...this ...by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 10/18/06To be blunt...this product isn't as great as it says it is. The wash is okay...it did leave my skin feeling soft and clean- without leaving it too oily. The day lotion is awful! Within 30 minutes after putting it on, my face was more oily than it has seriously ever been. So, I threw the day lotion away. After I ran out of the wash, I continued to use the night lotion. (it takes a while to use it all because you really only need a small amount.) I REALLY love the night lotion. It dries out my blemishes in only a day or two. It's perfect for a quick fix. I also find it worked better when I switched to just normal acne cleanser.
So, my recommendations:
The cleanser & the night lotion.

| Today is just my second ... by Aj in Portage, MI on 10/13/06Today is just my second day of using it and my face is red. The night lotion stings my sensitive areas (nose and upper lip) so much that I had to face a fan. Its also itchy! Oh and not to mention that my face got so dry/flaky. To be fair though, I had a zit about to explode, and it was almost gone the next day. All in all, I wouldn't buy this kit again. It just has more negative effects. :( | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
