I fix this for breakfast every morning. Was looking for something that I could fix quickly before work that had slow cooked taste. This is it. I only add a touch of brown sugar and a few pecans. I have to eat breakfast around 6am and then don't get a chance to eat again until after noon. This helps me stay satisfied all morning.
Hard to believe this only takes a couple of minutes to prepare! It tastes just like the steel cut oatmeal that takes much longer. Love it! I did think that I was ordering the pre-measureed "to go" packets but maybe they don't make those? That's ok; this is so good that I can certainly measure it out myself and put in in little bags "to go" if I don't have time to make it at home.
This is a very filling, albeit healthy breakfast or snack food. It only takes a small amount to fill one up. It is very convenient to cook, requiring only a few minutes in the microwave. Tastes really good with a little brown sugar, fruit, or honey!
Traditional, for each serving: Add 1/3 Cup of McCann's Irish Oatmeal to 2/3 cup of Cold Water or low Fat Milk. Boil and stir for 3-5 minutes. Tip: Add liquid to oatmeal a couple of minutes before cooking; it will cook quicker. Microwave, for each serving: Add 1/3 Cup of McCann's Irish Oatmeal to 2/3 Cup of Cold Water or Low Fat Milk in microwavable bowl. Stir and place bowl in a microwave oven. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Stir for a few seconds before eating. Note: Because microwaves cook differently, times are approximate. Serving Suggestions: Serve with low fat milk, honey, raisins, fruit or nuts.
