I've done my own ear candling for years, but I don't recommend that to a first time user. I'm fortunate to have a window to open in my shower which helps alot! It is better to do this as a two-person endevour. I use the ear candles on my husband at least twice a year, as he has a tough wax buildup. He thought I was nuts when I first suggested ear candles, but after using them on him for close to 10 years now, he recommends them to others! My oldest daughter used to laugh at us, but then she developed an intense earwax buildup in college. I did the procedure on her during a visit home ~ now she's a believer too! If we go too long without using the candles on my husband's ears, it can take two packages to thoroughly clean his ears out. If the wax has been compacted (Q-tips are NOT for the inside of the ears, I remind him) or has hardened, it often requires two sessions to draw the wax up. Continue on, because it will happen. The best procedure that I have found: cover a paper plate with aluminum foil, cut a hole in the center, insert the end of the candle through it. Place an old towel on the recipient's shoulder then have them sit at a table in a well ventilated area (a porch or back deck at the patio table is ideal, even in the kitchen next to an open window) with their head down to one side. Keep a dish of water, & a pair of scissors on the table next to you. I'll often cover my work area with a piece of aluminum foil. Sometimes I will enlarge the hole at the ear-end slightly so it doesn't collapse and close. After the person has laid his/her head down in a comfortable position on the table (sometimes a rolled up towel makes a good cushion from the hard table), insert the tapered end of the candle slightly into the ear - not too deep - at the angle suggested in the package directions. Light the upper end of the candle (I use the long lighters for the fireplace) and keep the scissors handy. As the candle slowly burns, make sure to cut the ashen, sometimes glowing, end and carefully lift it like a tweezer and place it in the dish of water. Do this until the ear candle is 3 - 4 inches from the paper plate. The person who is receiving the candling should hear a sizzling sound when the candle is about halfway down. If this doesn't happen, and the first candle is not filled with much dark colored wax (cut it open, it helps to check it out), you may want to go ahead and do a second one. Hearing is sharper after this process, plus often itching inside the ears or sinus issues are relieved.

I really really wish these worked on me, but they didn't. The results sound so great in theory! I tried and pair and then my boyfriend tried it. Zero wax came out. It is a little dangerous too- definitely have an assistant stand by with some water to splash on you if things get crazy!

I have used your ear candles for years. They are the best. I especially like the new plastic tips inside so they stay open, however, in one box the candle ends were completely closed and I had to force them open. Overall I like the improvement. I will continue using these. Thanks for a great product.

We just wanted to try it because we heard so much about ear candles. I didnt think much of it but it really did the job!

First time user. I am a Registered Nurse and found this to be very dangerous, large flames that need to constantly cut away as you hold candle in the ear. Also my son experienced No Results. Waste of money and expensive for one time use. I'll stick with sweet oil, old remedy and that is cheaper.

These really do work! My husband and I use them 1-2 times a year and are amazed at all the build-up that comes out. It's a bit weird the first time but you feel so much better afterwards. As everyone stated in other reviews- it's a 2 person job, I'd be afraid to try to do it by myself.

I love these. They really do help remove excess wax and I can hear so much better afterward as well. Definitely need someone to help do this though! It really works best to remove issues when you have a sinus or ear "pressure".

Sounds crazy, but they work. You definitely need someone around to help. I also have found by poking a hole in a sheet of Reynolds wrap and placing it over the side of your face and hair and then placing the candle in your ear helps prevent any accidents. These candles remove wax buildup and have prevented my mother from having to have her ears irrigated at the doctor office. Give them a try!
