I am surprised at all of the negative comments on this product. We are on very hard well water with a softener. I have used it for years and have never noticed a waxy build-up, dulling, etc. on either the machine (top load) or clothing. What I did notice was when I switched to the BIo-Kleen cold water liquid because it was cheaper, my whites didn't come out very clean all all. Laundry 101 - first of all, you cannot stuff clothes into a top-load until there is no room for them to move and float in the water. Second, it is a bit difficult to dissolve. To solve that problem I put two tablespoons into a plastic measuring cup I keep at the machine. As the machine is filling, I let the cup fill a bit, swish and pour it into the tub under the running water. Then I start loading the clothes in. I have yet to find a crusty piece left over by this method. Third, for those of you using a scoop, you're using WAY TOO MUCH SOAP. I use 1 level dry tablespoon measure for 1/2 load and 2 tablespoons for a full load and I have a large capacity machine. On whites, I use hot water, extra long cycle and 2 tablespoons of the Bio-Kleen non chlorine bleach and they come out beautifully. If I have the time, I hang the whites out on the line to finish in the sun. This soap has been a life saver for me. Somewhere along the line I became chemically sensitized and everything made me break out. If you were unhappy with the soap, I would respectfully ask you to try it again, just use less of it. I would imagine that with a front-load machine, 1 tablespoon would do. But I guarantee that the scoop that comes with the product is more than 2 tablespoons, which is what the box says. On diapers, if you're worried about absorbing, I would use 1/2 cup white vinegar in the rinse (unless your machine states otherwise). We have 7 dogs in the house and have a lot of accidents. This really cuts the urine smell. I wash a lot of sheets that cover the furniture, towels that clean up messes and yes, we do have some serious accidents with the dogs. It all cleans up!! I also do not worry so much about bacteria in the laundry, because I have faith in those little enzymes that they will eat the bad boys up. In my humble opinion, this company has struck a perfect balance between keeping a business going and providing a product that doesn't pollute the earth, isn't animal tested or contain animal products. We had an elderly friend who had colon cancer and she would often mess her underwear. I wish now I had discovered this soap in those days, because Tide didn't do a bit of good!
