The original studies on this product appear to have been funded by Bausch and Loomb. I have asked a couple of eye doctors about this product. There answer was a bit equivical. They said that in some studies it appears to have a positive effect and they didn't think that is does much harm. It is expensive if it is just a placebo.

My husband and I have both use PreserVision with Lutein for about four years. My husbands Macular Degeneration has not increased. It was recommended by our Optometrist and I use it as a precaution. I am glad to see it is now available in a larger quantity (120 soft gels) but find it very expensive for the two of us.

I get this for my grandmother for her macular degeneration. We can't be sure that it works, but her doctor recommends she take it. My biggest complaint is that there are 2 formulas and this one is the one that is appropriate for smokers, but that information is hidden on the package. I think it's irresponsible to make a product for older people with poor vision and make it so hard to determine if it's the appropriate formula.. Would it be so hard to put "SMOKERS FORMULA" in big letters on the front of the box? In fact, she had been taking the incorrect version because of her poor vision and unclear understanding of the product, this could have caused some serious complications. Additionally this formula is much more expensive than the other version, so my grandmother really wants to purchase the wrong one and constantly asks why we can't just get that one. Once again packaging that was more clear would help with this problem too. I am happy that I can order this from drugstore[@] for her and have it delivered regularly so I'm sure she's always getting the right formula and she won't run out and try to purchase it on her own.

This is an eye vitamin recommended by my mother's eye specialist. She has macular degeneration. I've started taking it also, but obviously there are no results to pass on. Since it was recommended by a specialist, I'm assuming it's good for the eyes. These are taken along with a fish oil vitamin.

My father has one form of macular degeneration and his opthomologist told him to use this product daily. He has for three years now and is very pleased with the vision improvement and lack of floaters. His doctor is also pleased with the lack of progression of the macular degeneration. It is about the same as when it was first diagnosed and has not gotten any worse. Taken early and as recommended it apparently can help stop or truely slow the loss of vision.

I am slowly going blind from Machular Degeneration and docor recommends this and fish oil to slow down the process. Because I have had lung cancer in the past I am not to take the form with vitimin A.

This product is limited to the 50 capsule bottle and has no Qty discount for constant users. The price continues to climb. The price here is nothing special. You can get it at the big box stores cheaper. I understand there is a foreign equivalent that will halve B & L's inflted price.

I take it daily for the symptoms of early macular degeneration. So far, it seams to have slowed the progression of the decease.

This is a beneficial product if you have a pre-disposition to macular degeneration. Results are not immediate, but after one year my eye doctor noticed an improvement and, best of all, there was no progression of the disease. As for the expense, it's a small price to pay to preseerve your vision. Take one tablet twice a day with food.
