I am writing this really about the results for my suffering 22 year old son, who has been suffering for with psoriasis for years. Burning and itching skin, won't even change clothing at the Y, when he works out, wears long sleeve shirts, terrible dandruff, and the redness was reaching below his scalp line toward his forehead.
He has been to several skin doctors, GPs, dietitians, and nothing.
I spoke to a pharmacist recently when picking up medication for myself and he mentioned that a lot of people use this coal tar cream.
A MIRACLE , all of the redness from below his scalp is gone, elbows are clear, burning, itching discomfort gone.
I know that there is nothing in existence that works for everyone
with psoriasis. I can tell you that I don't smell it. I also was told that it was only about 2 years ago, that the 2% coal tar solution was allowed to be sold without prescription.
I also don't think that it is a coincidence that the doctors offered only expensive prescriptions and solutions that can have bad side effects. Then again, that is why we need a new HEALTH SYSTEM, not just universal insurance, in this country.

Heck, spraying filtered water with a saline solution in one of my nostrils and having it go out of my nostrils has cleared up ear pain and sinus headaches. I have had as well as removed the symptoms of life long allergies and has allowed me to stop using medication. So sometimes it can be the older, less expensive solutions that work the best. Doctors get bribed with bonuses and vacations from pharmaceutical companies to prescribe the newest and most expensive medicines.

so-so

same as elta tar; simply it's coal tar and doesn't do much for psorasis but sooth a little; it's smelly and greasy and doesn't help clear up and stop itch like flexitol does

My Down syndrome son has been suffering with psoriasis for the past 19 years and we've tried all the prescriptions and suggested creams, etc. His psoriasis had worsoned this past winter and the regular prescriptions were not working, so I tried this, and so far it's working!!!I apply it after bathing with the Psoriasis Wash then I use Amlactin-(Amlactin also helps with KP)and in between as needed, I use Glysomed to help keep the area moisturized. My son seems so much more comfortable now!

I have suffered for years with the spread of sebboreah from my scalp to the back of my ears and into my ears. It has been scaly, itchy, red and embarrassing. I have tried everything to no avail until this salve. I noticed a difference on the first application. Within two weeks using it very sparingly the condition was almost gone. I did not use it everyday. I only use it a couple times a week or if I notice the itching coming back. To me, this is nothing short of a miracle!! The tar smell disapates within a couple of minutes of application. I absolutely will not be without this product!!!

I use this sparingly on areas around my ears that have broken out with Seborrhea like my scalp. It stops the itching and the scaling. I have even been able to apply it less often than other things I have tried, including prescription ointments. I know this condition becomes immune to everything which is why I am using it sparingly. I sure hope I continue to have such good luck with this. It is wonderful!!

I use to have several 2-4 inch round psoriasis patches all the time as well as several smaller patches. If I use the Psoriasin Mulit-symptom ointment twice daily, the patches will eventually disappear. This does not happen overnight - but it does over time. This is the ONLY product that has ever cleared up any of my patches. It is certainly worth a try. I recommended it to a friend who has also seen positive results.

Comments about Psoriasin Multi-Symptom Psoriasis Relief Ointment, 4 oz:

I've had psoriasis since I was 26 (58 now) and have gone through all the ointments, topical creams, UVB light therapy and arthritis cross-over drugs. Now, I still have the skin plaques and psoriatic arthritis, something about 15% of suffers get. Remicade is good for that but of limitied use for skin control. I stumbled on this in the drug store aisle and said what harm could it do. I knew the main ingredient, coal tar was a help. After 2 days the plaques vanished by 80%. I kept it up and my skin (knuckles, elbows & lower legs) were unbroken with reddish patches. It's been 2 weeks and I've got mostly solid skin but I've shifted to an every 3rd day treatment because it does dry out the skin. Moisturizing lotion on the other 2 days. Some folks complained about a greasy look & feel but to me it was just like using petroleum jelly, the key is to spread it thin. There is a small amount of coal tar odor but that fades quickly.

I've had these ugly red scaley bumps on my elbows for the last six months! I didn't know what in the world was going on. I would ask my doctor (previous one) and he said "you have exzema". I tried the exzema meds and nothing worked. One day I did a check for psoriasis and the pictures looked exactly like my elbows. After four days of using this (three times a day), my right elbows psoriasis is gone! My left elbow still has some, but it was way worse off to start out with. I'm so happy and excited I can't even tell you. I've tried other salycic acid meds and they don't do anything. I think the tar is the way to go! I joined drugstore.com just so I could write this review. I want everyone to know about this!!

This is one of those tar products that smell like sulphur. If you have used those products in the past and have not found them effective, you will probably not find this helpful either. It did not work for me.
