Purpose is my go to soap for face, hands and body. I keep one in the shower, one by all bathroom sinks and one by the kitchen sink. I have ecxema and am prone to hives. This soap is so gentle and very cleansing. I use it with my Clairosonic Mia for my face and neck instead of any of the expensive soaps recommended. I would use expensive soaps for my face if it made a difference but the Purpose works just as well if not better. I always keep stocked up on this item. I can get it locally, but it's less expensive on drugstore.com. Try it.

My 13 year old's dermatologist recommended this to her to use as a daily wash. I started using it as well. (Previously had been using Cetaphil face cleanser). I have combination skin and it works well on me. Her breakouts have become less frequent. I do not use it on my eyes to remove makeup, but I do use it all over face and neck.

This is a great cleanser. I've tried more expensive cleansers but this one is the most effective all-around. I have oily skin that tends to be dry in the winter. This cleanser works on the oil but doesn't strip my skin.

I began using Purpose Gentle Face Wash years ago on the recommendation of a dermatologist. I am disappointed that it took many more years to appreciate that this product has a serious flaw, one that is a deal breaker for those with break-out or infection-prone skin. In a nutshell, the pump mechanism introduces air and moisture. Belatedly, I stumbled across a warning on the packaging indicating that the product can become adulterated. In hindsight, it only makes sense. The product is soap-free and does not contain anti-bacterial ingredients, thereby a lose-lose on the germ-fighting front. In order to maintain product integrity it needs to be kept away from the heat/moisture of a bathroom, particularly the shower area. Complicating matters, the product contains such a generous quantity of lather agent that it can take a long, long time to get to the bottom of a bottle because a little bit goes a long, long way. All the while, I experienced skin infection on numerous occasions, which I chalked up to the fact that I had problem skin to begin with (despite being well out of my teens by the time I started using this face wash). Only when I ran across the manufacturer's own warning did I appreciate that the formula is too gentle for its own good. When they say "gentle as water" they really mean it, and that means too gentle on germs in the environment, on your skin and in the product itself! Aside from that, there's another drawback: This product is so concentrated (thick/sticky) that too much applied to the face is difficult to rinse entirely off and can therefore dry out the skin. In conclusion, the manufacturer needs to either fix the pump or amend the formula to better combat the potential for contamination during the course of normal use.

I started using this after I went on tretinoin for my acne. Seeing that my cleansers at the time were too harsh with my new thin & sensitive skin, I tried Purpose at the recommendation of a friend. I have acne-prone, scar-prone, redness-prone, sensitive skin. I was looking for a cleanser that simply removes any dirt that has gotten on my face throughout the day without irritating my skin, and this fits the bill without having any extra frills or active ingredients. My face feels comfortable and not tight nor irritated after I wash my face with this. It also removes light makeup (face powder, eyeshadow, washable mascara, non-waterproof eyeliner) which is a plus for me since I wear some makeup almost everyday. Obviously it's not going to remove hardcore waterproof mascara, waterproof eyeliner, nor thick/long-wearing foundation, but it might remove some. Remember to have a separate, proper makeup remover for that. There are only TWO downsides: 1) The product leaks out of the pump, but this is not a fault of the product but rather the package design; and 2) This is fragranced. The fragrance is not obnoxious at all (I actually think it smells kind of nice), but I would have MUCH preferred no fragrance. Highly recommend.

I'm 47 and have roseaca and acne..This is the only wash I can use on my skin that doesn't cause more breakouts. Only wish it was a natural product. Don't like to use products with a lot of chemicals.

this is a great face wash - cleansing and gentle, but it still gets the waterproof mascara off.

I've used this face soap since high school, when my friend's dermatologist recommended it to her. It's so gentle I can use it to clean off my eye makeup - and I wear mascara & eyeliner every day! I use it morning and night. It can be slightly drying, so make sure you use a great moisturizer. But I've sworn by this soap, day and night, for over ten years now!
