Measure it and take a look at the cardboard core. The roll's width is decreased from a standard roll, and the interior cardboard's diameter is increased. A similar amount of toilet paper has simply been reconfigured. It's sort of like paying the same price for a pound of coffee when the coffee's packaging has been reconfigured and instead of a pound of coffee, one is receiving fourteen ounces for the same price. Pay attention!
Also -- the excess 'space' of the inner core inhibits the paper from being pulled smoothly from a toilet paper holder -- it sort of 'bounces' around, hence the squares tear when you least expect them to tear.
This is the only tissue we have used for many years. It is very soft and asborbent but also doesn't fall apart. The extra plush version (while very cushy) seems an unnecessary expense and waste to the environment. The "triple" size roll version won't fit in standard wall inset tiissue holders. But, the double roll Northern is , like the old story book poridge, "just right". I think most toilet tissues are "unscented" and without color dyes these days, but I think it is always an important feature. If we have a choice, we won't use anything else.
