 | How soon does Viagra work after I take it? How long do its effects last?
|
| Viagra (generic name sildenafil) is a medication used to treat men who have trouble getting an erection, a condition called erectile dysfunction or impotence. For best results, take Viagra about one hour before having sex. It starts working 10 to 40 minutes after taking a 25 to 100 mg dose, and can work for up to four hours after you take it. Make sure you call your doctor if you experience an erection that lasts longer than four hours. Do nottake more than one dose per day, as this greatly increases the risk of severely low blood pressure. Viagra works faster when you take it on an empty stomach. It may take longer to work if you take it after eating a high-fat meal. Simply taking a Viagra pill won't cause an erection: You must also have sexual stimulation. When the sexual experience is over, the erection goes away. Viagra won't help you delay ejaculation. Sources: Micromedex® Healthcare Series. Thomson Micromedex, 2006.
