 | What are the side effects of Zyban?

|  Zyban (generic name bupropion hydrochloride) is a prescription drug that can help people stop smoking. It is chemically identical to Wellbutrin SR, an antidepressant. In contrast to other stop-smoking aids such as patches and gum, Zyban doesn't contain nicotine. It works in the brain to reduce nicotine cravings. The most common side effects of Zyban are dry mouth and difficulty sleeping. You can drink lots of water or suck on sugar-free candy to help reduce dry mouth. Other common side effects include agitation, anxiety, nausea, constipation, dizziness, and tremor. These side effects are usually mild and often go away after a few weeks as you continue to take the medicine. Since Zyban may cause dizziness, make sure you know how you react to the medicine before driving a car or operating machinery. Seizures are a rare side effect of Zyban. They are most likely to occur in people who have a seizure disorder or who have had a head injury. Take Zyban exactly as your doctor prescribes to reduce your risk of seizures. Alcohol can also increase the risk of having a seizure and should be avoided when taking Zyban. Sources:
