 | What are the side effects of Cipro?
|
| Cipro (generic name ciprofloxacin) is a prescription antibiotic medication used to treat infections caused by various bacteria. It is effective in treating a wide range of infections including urinary tract infections (UTIs), pneumonia, sinus, skin, and bone infections. The most common side effects of Cipro include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, restlessness, and skin rash. Taking Cipro with food may help to reduce some stomach-related side effects such as nausea. Do not take Cipro with dairy products (like milk or yogurt) or calcium-added juices alone. Avoid caffeine-containing products such as coffee, tea, cola, or chocolate. Cipro can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, or "photosensitive." Symptoms of a photosensitivity reaction include redness, warmth, blisters, swelling, and sometimes rash. Protecting yourself with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 is recommended.
