how pharmacy works
1. Shop our pharmacy.
To begin, find your medication in the alphabetical index on our drug names & information page. Select your prescribed strength, quantity, and form and click "add to cart."

Once you've added all your prescriptions to your cart, click on "Checkout" to continue. For your convenience, you can view the contents of your cart on the left side of every page.

2. Create a pharmacy account.
Next, we'll walk you through creating an account -- entering your e-mail address, creating a password, and (most importantly) filling out a Health Profile.

Your Health Profile gathers the information our pharmacists need to fill a prescription: allergies, medical conditions, and more. Some questions ask for sensitive information, but you can rest easy, your answers will be kept completely confidential.

3. Checkout and order your prescription.
There are four ways to provide your prescription information:
Have your doctor call us
Mail us your prescription
We'll call your doctor
Transfer from another pharmacy

A. Have your doctor call us:
The quickest way to submit a prescription is to have your doctor call or fax your prescription directly to us. Using standard shipping (you can choose expedited options for faster service) it will take about 8 to 10 days for a new prescription to arrive. Your doctor may call or fax your prescriptions to our pharmacy using the following toll-free numbers:

Phone: 800-373-2133
Fax: 800-373-6013

B. Mail us your prescription
  • When mailing your prescription into our pharmacy, please be sure to include the e-mail address associated with your drugstore.com account, the patient’s full name, and the date of birth.
  • Before submitting your prescription to us, you must create a drugstore.com account (including a health profile) or your prescription will not be processed.
  • If you're using insurance please be sure to enter your insurance information on the website when you place your order. We will verify the information and contact you by phone within 24 – 48 hours if we encounter any issues.

C. We'll call your doctor:
You can provide us with your doctor's phone number and our pharmacists will contact them for all your prescription details. Using standard shipping (you can choose expedited options for faster service) it will take about 10 to 14 days for a new prescription to arrive.

D. Transfer from another pharmacy:
If you have an existing prescription at another pharmacy, we'll call your current pharmacy and do all the work for you. Using standard shipping (you can choose expedited options for faster service) it will take about 10 to 14 days for your medication to arrive.

Before submitting your prescription to us, you must create a drugstore.com account. Please click here to begin creating an account if you have not done so already.

You can pay for a prescription in two ways: with a credit card or with insurance/discount card. If you're using insurance/discount card our process will quickly help you set this up. Our pharmacy welcomes most insurance plans. If you would like to check if our pharmacy accepts your insurance plan before you submit your order, please click here.
Delivery Information
Your order will be shipped as soon as we've received and processed your information and filled your prescription. It can take up to 14 days after we have received your prescription to receive your medication. When refilling your prescription, please place your order when you have at least a 14 day supply left, to allow time for processing and delivery.

If your order includes refrigerated items, it requires overnight shipping. For details about overnight shipping charges, please read our shipping rates and policies.
