ADAMS RESPIRATORY THERAPEUTICS CONDUCTS VOLUNTARY RECALL OF SPECIFIC LOTS OF CHILDREN'S MUCINEX® LIQUID

April 2, 2007 - Adams Respiratory Therapeutics is voluntarily recalling specific lots of Children's Mucinex® Liquid products from retail outlets due to a dosing cup included in the product packaging that may cause confusion in determining the proper dose of medication for children. The two products are Mucinex® KIDS Cough Liquid Cherry 4 oz Sku 158086 and Mucinex® KIDS Liquid Grape 4 oz Sku 158083. The medication contained in these lots of Children's Mucinex® Liquid products is safe and the product can be used safely, as per the labeled dosing instructions, with a regular teaspoon. The recall is specifically related to the standardized dosing cup included in the product package that contains both teaspoon and tablespoon units of measure which has in rare instances led to confusion and the possibility of a dosing error.

The voluntary recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the FDA.

Consumers who have questions or concerns about Children's Mucinex® Liquid products, or may have purchased product affected by this recall containing the original dosing cup, may call (1-800-287-1584). Adams will provide consumers who have purchased product from the affected lots with a new dosing cup.

This product recall will remove any remaining product at retail that contains the original dosing cup and is intended to eliminate any potential for further consumer confusion. Adams believes this is the right thing to do.
