Actiq is a narcotic (opioid) analgesic used only for the management of breakthrough cancer pain in patients who are already using and are tolerant to around-the-clock narcotic pain medicines. Actiq should not be used for short term pain including (including headache or migraine) or for pain caused by injury or surgery.
