Paxil CR is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression, panic attacks, social anxiety disorder, or a severe premenstrual syndrome known as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). SSRIs work by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain called neurotransmitters. Paroxetine may also be used to treat a variety of other conditions as determined by your doctor.
