Lysodren 500mg is an adrenal cytotoxic agent used for treating adrenal cortical cancer that cannot be treated with surgery.
WARNING:Lysodren 500mg may reduce the amount of natural steroid in the body. This may decrease your ability to recover from physical stress such as illness, injury, or surgery. Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Lysodren 500mg before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. Tell your doctor right away if you become ill or have an injury while you use Lysodren 500mg. You may need to stop Lysodren 500mg for a period of time. You may need to take a corticosteroid (eg, prednisone) until your body can make enough on its own. Check with your doctor for more information. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Lysodren 500mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants (eg, warfarin). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including liver problems, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF LYSODREN 500mg IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have suffered severe trauma or shock. Lysodren 500mg should not be used in CHILDREN; safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Lysodren 500mg.
Follow the directions for taking Lysodren 500mg provided by your doctor. TAKE LYSODREN 500mg by mouth with or without food. Lysodren 500mg may be started in a hospital setting until an individualized dose is determined. SWALLOW LYSODREN 500mg WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. IF NAUSEA, VOMITING, OR LOSS OF APPETITE OCCURS, ask your doctor or pharmacist for ways to lessen these effects. TO MINIMIZE THE RISK OF SKIN EXPOSURE always wear gloves when handling bottles containing Lysodren 500mg. BE SURE YOU KNOW how to properly handle and dispose of Lysodren 500mg. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. STORE LYSODREN 500mg at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not store in the bathroom. IF YOU MISS A DOSE of Lysodren 500mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT USE LYSODREN 500mg IF you are allergic to any ingredient in Lysodren 500mg. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE without checking with your doctor. LAB TESTS, such as adrenal function tests and neurological and behavioral tests, may be performed while you use Lysodren 500mg. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects.KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LAB APPOINTMENTS. LYSODREN 500mg MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS OR DIZZINESS. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Lysodren 500mg with caution. DO NOT DRIVE OR PERFORM OTHER POSSIBLY UNSAFE TASKS until you know how you react to it. TELL YOUR DOCTOR OR DENTIST that you take Lysodren 500mg before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Lysodren 500mg while you are pregnant. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF LYSODREN 500mg IS FOUND in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Lysodren 500mg.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Lysodren 500mg include diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; lack of energy; loss of appetite; nausea; tiredness; or vomiting. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience blood in the urine; blurred vision, double vision, or other vision changes; fainting; fever; or severe or persistent dizziness, drowsiness, headache, lightheadedness, or tiredness. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Lysodren 500mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue.
