Chemical Name: LIDOCAINE (LYE-doe-kane)

Common uses
Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution is a local anesthetic used to produce numbness in the mouth and throat. It may also be used to prevent gagging during dental procedures.

Before using
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Directions
Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution is usually applied by your doctor or dentist. Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution is sometimes used at home to treat irritation or swelling inside the mouth. Ask your doctor, dentist, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution. STORE LIDOCAINE HCL 4% SOLUTION at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.

Cautions
DO NOT TAKE LIDOCAINE HCL 4% SOLUTION if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. LIDOCAINE HCL 4% SOLUTION MAY REDUCE your ability to swallow. Do not eat for at least 1 hour after using Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution. LIDOCAINE HCL 4% SOLUTION MAY CAUSE NUMBNESS of the tongue or mouth lining. Do not eat or chew gum while your mouth feels numb. Also be careful not to bite your tongue or the inside of your mouth after using Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution. LIDOCAINE HCL 4% SOLUTION IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Lidocaine Hcl 4% Solution, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may occur during treatment, include numbness, burning, stinging, or swelling. If they continue or are bothersome, contact your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin rash or hives. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, dentist, or pharmacist. If you take too much
