Tablets
Chemical Name: NILUTAMIDE (nye-LOO-ta-mide)

Common uses
This medicine is an antiandrogen used to treat prostate cancer.

Before using
WARNING: Nilutamide may infrequently cause lung problems (interstitial pneumonitis), which rarely may be fatal. Seek immediate medical attention if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: trouble breathing, persistent cough, chest pain, fever. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., chest X-ray, lung function) may be performed to monitor your progress. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking phenytoin, theophylline, or warfarin. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions or allergies. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of liver or breathing conditions. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions
THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE CHANGES IN EYESIGHT, especially when moving from light to dark areas. Wearing sunglasses when you are in bright light may be helpful. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while you are using this medicine. DO NOT STOP USING THIS MEDICINE without first checking with your doctor. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include changes in eyesight, hot flashes, decreased sexual desire, nausea, vomiting, constipation, upset stomach, dizziness, headaches, or difficulty sleeping. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience difficulty breathing, stomach pain, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

If you take too much
