Chemical Name: FLUOCINOLONE (floo-oh-SIN-oh-lone)
This medicine is a corticosteroid shampoo used on the scalp to reduce itching, redness, and swelling associated with certain skin conditions.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking prednisone (or similar medicines). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. SHAKE WELL before using a dose. Apply no more than 1 ounce of this medicine to the scalp area daily unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Lather and allow the medicine to remain on the scalp for 5 minutes, then completely rinse hair and scalp twice. Do not bandage or cover the treated scalp area unless directed by your doctor. Discard this medicine after 3 months. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE WITHIN A FEW DAYS, or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE longer than the time prescribed by your doctor. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other skin conditions at a later time. DO NOT GET THIS MEDICINE in your eyes. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin thinning and discoloration, stinging, rash, dry skin, itching, burning, redness, or swelling not present before using this medicine. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
