Dovonex 0.005% Ointment is a synthetic vitamin D3 analog used on the skin to treat psoriasis.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using Dovonex 0.005% Ointment provided by your doctor. TO USE DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT: Apply a thin layer of medicine to the affected area. Rub the medicine in gently and completely. WASH YOUR HANDS after using Dovonex 0.005% Ointment. STORE DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT at room temperature, away from heat and light. Keep the container tightly closed. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
SEVERAL WEEKS MAY PASS before your symptoms improve. Continue to use Dovonex 0.005% Ointment during that time. DO NOT GET DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT on your face or in your eyes. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Dovonex 0.005% Ointment during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Dovonex 0.005% Ointment, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include dry skin or peeling. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience rash, burning, itching, irritation, or worsening of your condition. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. DO NOT SHARE DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT for other health conditions. KEEP DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT out of the reach of children. IF USING DOVONEX 0.005% OINTMENT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
