24 Hour Tablets
Chemical Name: OXYBUTYNIN (OX-i-BUE-ti-nin)

Common uses
This medicine is an anticholinergic agent used to treat muscle spasms of the bladder (overactive bladder) and the symptoms associated with it. These symptoms may include the inability to control urination (incontinence), feeling that one has to urinate (urgency), as well as having to go the bathroom often (frequency). It may also be used in certain children with overactive bladder muscle caused by certain conditions (such as spina bifida). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before using
BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE: Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking bisphosphonates (such as alendronate), anticholinergics (such as scopolamine), azole antifungals (such as ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), or phenothiazines (such as chlorpromazine). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR if you have a history of heart problems (such as heart failure, fast or irregular heartbeat), high blood pressure, nervous system problems, esophagus problems (such as reflux disease or inflammation), stomach or bowel problems (such as colitis, inflammation, narrowing), hiatal hernia, liver or kidney problems, myasthenia gravis, enlarged prostate, overactive thyroid, glaucoma, or if you are at risk for glaucoma. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including trouble urinating, very poor health, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have bladder blockage; certain stomach or bowel problems (such as blockage, decreased muscle movement); tightening of the esophagus; uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma; heart problems caused by severe bleeding; if you are unable to urinate; or if you cannot swallow the tablet whole. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine. Use of this medicine in children under age 6 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. TAKE THIS MEDICINE WITH A FULL GLASS OF liquid. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Take this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. This medicine works best if it is taken at the same time each day. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Cautions
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU DRINK ALCOHOL while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. This medicine can cause decreased sweating. DO NOT BECOME OVERHEATED in hot weather or during exercise or other activities since heat stroke may occur. Contact your doctor if you have been exposed to high temperatures and you develop fever; flushing; hot, dry skin; severe or persistent headache; dizziness; sudden fatigue; fast heartbeat; seizures; or fainting. YOU MAY OCCASIONALLY NOTICE the tablet shell in your stool. This is normal and not a cause for concern. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: It is not known if this medicine can cause harm to the fetus. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT OR PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include blurred vision; constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry eyes, nose, skin, or mouth; headache; indigestion; nausea; runny nose; stomach pain or upset; taste changes; trouble sleeping; or weakness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on sugarless hard candy or ice chips, chew sugarless gum, drink water, or use saliva substitute. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY is you experience confusion; difficult or painful urination; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever; hallucinations; mental or mood changes (eg, agitation); seizures; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; or vision problems. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include coma, delirium, fever, flushing, hallucinations, irregular heartbeat, paralysis, seizures, severe or persistent dizziness or headache, tremor, trouble breathing, or vomiting.

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
