Chemical Name: CILOSTAZOL (sil-OS-tah-zol)
Pletal 100mg is a platelet inhibitor used to reduce the symptoms of intermittent claudication. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
WARNING: Medications similar to cilostazol have shortened the lives of people with heart failure. Do not use cilostazol if you have any type of heart failure. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Pletal 100mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking antidepressants, azole antifungals, macrolide antibiotics, diltiazem, or omeprazole. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Pletal 100mg.
Follow the directions for using Pletal 100mg provided by your doctor. PLETAL 100mg COMES WITH A PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about Pletal 100mg. Take Pletal 100mg at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after eating. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking Pletal 100mg. STORE PLETAL 100mg at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF PLETAL 100mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS for Pletal 100mg to work. Do not stop using Pletal 100mg without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using Pletal 100mg. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Pletal 100mg. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Pletal 100mg. Using Pletal 100mg alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Pletal 100mg during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF PLETAL 100mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Pletal 100mg.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Pletal 100mg include headache; diarrhea; dizziness; or bloating or swelling of ankles, feet, or hands. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience fast or irregular heartbeat; unusual bruising or bleeding; black, tarry stools; or vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe headache, severe diarrhea, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, and fast or irregular heartbeat.
DO NOT SHARE PLETAL 100mg with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE PLETAL 100mg for other health conditions. KEEP THIS PRODUCT out of the reach of children. IF USING PLETAL 100mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
