Chemical Name: CLINDAMYCIN (klin-da-MYE-sin)
Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution is an antibiotic used to treat acne. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines and medical conditions may interact with medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. USE OF CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of certain stomach or bowel problems (such as enteritis, colitis, or severe diarrhea due to antibiotic use). Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution.
Follow the directions for using Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution provided by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area. COVER THE AFFECTED and surrounding areas with medicine. TO APPLY CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION: the medicine comes in a bottle with an applicator tip. Use the applicator with a dabbing motion. Tilt the bottle and press the tip firmly against your skin. If the applicator tip is dry, turn the bottle upside down and press the tip several times to moisten it. STORE CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
DO NOT USE CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to lincomycin, or to any ingredient in this product. SEVERAL WEEKS MAY PASS before you see improvement in your acne. Continue using Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution for the full time recommended by your doctor. If your acne does not improve or gets worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT GET CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION in your eyes or on the inside of your nose or mouth. If you accidentally get the medicine in your eye, immediately flush with a large amount of cool tap water. DO NOT USE OTHER MEDICINES OR CLEANERS unless otherwise directed by your doctor. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution. IF SEVERE DIARRHEA, STOMACH PAIN OR CRAMPING, OR BLOODY STOOLS DEVELOP during treatment or within several months after treatment with Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution, check with your doctor or pharmacist right away. Do not treat it without first checking with your doctor. This may be a sign of a serious side effect. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while using Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution.
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include dry skin or mild burning, redness, or stinging at the application site. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin rash; severe burning, redness, or irritation at the application site; swelling or peeling of your skin; diarrhea; or stomach pain or cramping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. IF YOU SUSPECT YOU HAVE USED TOO MUCH of Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution, contact your doctor or seek medical advice right away. Clindamycin Phosphate 1% Solution may be harmful if swallowed.
DO NOT SHARE CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION for other health conditions. KEEP CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION out of the reach of children. IF USING CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE 1% SOLUTION FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
