Chemical Name: LIDOCAINE (LYE-doe-kane)

Common uses
Lidocaine Hcl 3% Lotion is an anesthetic used on the skin to relieve itching and painful skin problems (such as minor burns, insect bites, scrapes) including conditions around the groin or anal area (such as hemorrhoids, fissures). It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Lidocaine Hcl 3% Lotion. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking, especially any other skin medicines. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking certain antiarrhythmics (such as amiodarone, mexiletine), beta-blockers (such as atenolol), or cimetidine. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including heart, liver, or kidney problems; severe illness or weakness; allergies (especially to other anesthetics like benzocaine); pregnancy; or breast-feeding. USE OF LIDOCAINE HCL 3% LOTION IS NOT RECOMMENDED if there are signs of infection in the affected area (such as oozing, warmth, pain), or if there are skin lesions, open sores, or injury in the affected area.

Directions
Follow the directions for using Lidocaine Hcl 3% Lotion provided by your doctor. Lidocaine Hcl 3% Lotion should only be used on the skin (topically). Wash and completely dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer to the affected area, usually two or three times daily; or as directed by your doctor. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected area, unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Wash your hands immediately after using Lidocaine Hcl 3% Lotion, unless your hands are part of the treated area. Use carefully if applying to the face. Discard unused medicine and packaging in the trash out of the reach of children and pets. STORE LIDOCAINE HCL 3% LOTION at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container away from heat, moisture, and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF LIDOCAINE HCL 3% LOTION use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions
If your condition does not improve within a few days or if it becomes worse, check with your doctor. USE LIDOCAINE HCL 3% LOTION EXACTLY AS DIRECTED.
