Chemical Name: CICLOPIROX (sye-kloe-PEER-ox)
Loprox 1% Shampoo is an antifungal shampoo used to treat dandruff or scalp itching. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using Loprox 1% Shampoo provided by your doctor. Massage Loprox 1% Shampoo thoroughly into wet scalp. Allow lather to remain on scalp for 3 minutes, then rinse. STORE LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), away from heat and light. Continue using Loprox 1% Shampoo for the full course of treatment. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
DO NOT TAKE LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. Avoid getting Loprox 1% Shampoo in your eyes. If contact with eyes occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Loprox 1% Shampoo during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Loprox 1% Shampoo, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Loprox 1% Shampoo include minor burning or redness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience irritation, blistering, swelling, oozing, or severe burning or redness. An allergic reaction to Loprox 1% Shampoo is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice any other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. DO NOT SHARE LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO for other health conditions. KEEP LOPROX 1% SHAMPOO out of the reach of children and pets.
