Desitin is the old standby with good reason.

Wonderful, wonderful product. It is still the A+, #1 in its field because it WORKS. None of the others can touch it. Desitin has been used in my family for diaper rash, rashes & cuts, etc. A tube of Desitin will always be in our house. Right there next to Vaseline, Alka-Selzer, Bactine, Pepto-Bismol, Kaopectate, and Vicks Vaporub. Things that WORK.

It works wonders! Desitin Original is thick and coats my baby's bottom for up to 10 hours! Even after I change his wet diapers in the middle of the night, the next morning I can still see the Desitin Original protecting his skin. Desitin Creamy is fine for daytime use, but Desitin Original is the only thing I will use at night. No diaper rash here!

I love this stuff! It's economical (especially in this size) and I've never had a problem with it. My son has had a rash once, the time we forgot to put it on. Once we did use it, he cleared up overnight as promised and has been rash free now for 11 months!

This is great not only for babies diaper rash...but also for those who have any oozing from there skin including pimples. I have a leg that has edema with oozing and it has cleared it all up. Zinc Oxide is great in all forms for healing.

We've used this on our 5-month old daughter since birth, and it has never failed to clear up the occasional diaper rash. We've also tried Desitin's Creamy formula (ineffective) and the Burt's Bee's Ointment (she had a very bad reaction to the essential oils, I guess, although it did work very well for prickly heat on her shoulders). Although we don't care for the odor, this has to get 5 stars for effectiveness.

This product works to clear up the rashes and I would give it a five stars if the ingredients were different. The Original Desitin formula contains TALC. The Creamy Desitin version does not contain talc at all, I don't know why the difference in the two products. If you are ingredient conscious, like myself, I highly recommend the California Baby ointment, which goes on like the Desitin Creamy, or the Weleda Cream, which is more like the Original Desitin. Both products work fantastically and I am able to rotate them according to my son's needs.

Our son has VERY sensitive skin. We have tried everything on the market: over-the-counter and prescription, and Desitin is the ONLY thing that will totally prevent and start healing his wounds within 2 days of showing up. If we could, we would give this product 100 stars and would recommend this product to anyone before sending them to any other product available!

This is good for dry skin from eczema too; it is not just for babies.

My son got his first diaper rash at 7 1/2 months old. I had always used A+D Original Ointment at each diaper change for prevention, but to actually treat a rash, the pediatrician recommended Desitin. I noticed an improvement within an hour. By the next day, the rash had disappeared completely. Desitin is a thick ointment that really creates a protective and healing barrier on babies' skin. While other ointments and creams completely absorb into the skin in between diaper changes, I can still see a light coating of Desitin on my son when I change him. I have read other reviews about Desitin stating that it had an unpleasant smell, but I honestly don't mind the smell at all. Also, Desitin is 40% zinc oxide - other brands (Balmex & A+D) only contain 10% zinc oxide. This is the best diaper ointment I have tried, and now the only one I use for my son.
