Indications

Temporarily relieves these symptoms of hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies:    runny nose, sneezing, itchy, watery eyes, itching of the nose or throat, temporarily relieves nasal congestion due to the common cold

Directions

Take every 4 to 6 hours and do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Adults and children 12 years of age and over: 1 tablet. Children 6 to under 12 years of age: 1/2 tablet.  Children under 6 years of age: ask a doctor. Safety Sealed: This product protected with sealed blister units. Do not use if any are torn or broken. Store at 59° to 77° in a dry place. Protect from light.

Drug Interaction Precautions

Do not use if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug.  If you do not know if your prescription drug contains an MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.

Warnings

Ask a doctor before use if you have heart disease, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis  Ask a doctor or pharmacists before use if you are taking sedatives or tranquilizers When using this product drowsiness may occur, do not use more than directed, avoid alcoholic drinks, alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase drowsiness, be careful when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery, excitability may occur, especially in children  Stop use and ask a doctor if you get nervous, dizzy or sleepless, or symptoms do not improve within 7 days or are accompanied by a fever  If pregnant or beast-feeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

I agree with everyone else by Nancy in New York on 7/15/08 Cons: Doesn't Work Bottom Line: not recommended I agree that it's such a shame that the old formula is gone. You can't even get it behind the counter at the drugstore. This new formula does not deserve the name "Actifed".

I agree with everyone ... by jeanne in san diego, CA on 3/27/08 I agree with everyone else--this new formula is completely worthless and I feel WORSE when I take it, than before I took it--there was nothing wrong with the old formula, except the "amphetamine" issue--believe me, someone will always find a way to make illegal drugs and there are so many people that REALLY need the old formula for their symptoms!!!

I have asthma and ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 11/25/07 I have asthma and asbestosis. I have used the regular Actifed for years and it always worked for me in less than a half an hour. I went to the pharmacy today to get a couple more boxes of it and they said the company discontinued it. I have used the new Actifed and it was a waste of money--I would have been better off taking M&M's--at least I would have had something to enjoy.

As with everyone else, the new formula does not work at all. This week we were in Vancouver, Canada for a conference and happened to stop by a pharmacy to get something else. I thought perhaps Canada doesn't have the same restrictions on the ingredients in the old formula, and to our delight they do still have the old formula of Actifed.

I had been a loyal customer for 20 years and was very disappointed in the decision to change the product because of certain elements of society. I had no problem with asking for it at the pharmacy counter. I e-mailed the company to complain and I hope everyone else who feels as I do does the same.

I have been using Actifed ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 6/18/07 I have been using Actifed for more than 30 years. I have tried everything else... prescription and OTC. Honestly, it was the only thing that would work when I had a very bad hayfever attack. The new Actifed is a joke. Pfizer made a "business" decision to stay on the shelf by "reformulating" rather than go back behind the pharmacists counter.
