Planetary Herbals Horse Chestnut Cream rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 7 customer reviews.Cannot get past the stench!

Cons: Bad Smell, No Noticeable Results
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Bottom Line: not recommended
I rarely ever write a review because I figure one person's trash is another person's treasure, but this cream is the foulest smelling stuff I have ever put on my body. I used it for 2 weeks straight without any results whatsoever on very tiny spider veins. I kept hoping that I would get used to the smell, but I just can't. I was so afraid that someone else would smell it and think I had developed a serious personal hygiene problem!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this because I read a few reviews saying that it is great for the treatment of varicose/spider veins. I should have looked into it further because I ended up throwing it away after I did some research online. This is not FDA approved and does have a list of possible side effects which can be quite serious. I also learned that you shouldn't use it while pregnant or nursing because it can be harmful to a baby. I am nursing so that alone was reason enough for me not to use it. It is my own fault for not researching it first. Be smart and check the warnings before you buy.

This product just smells bad. I thought it was just me, but it isn't: my guy actually came into my home office, stopped mid-stride, and started sniffing my room. When he got to me he wrinkled his nose and said "WHAT is that smell?" The smell just smells, bad. Not rancid, not off, just really really unpleasant. My guy actually asked me to not use the stuff anymore. And he never says things like that.

Pros: Easy To Use, Natural, Noticeable Results
Cons: Herbal Smell
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: Spider veins
Bottom Line: recommended
I wish I had taken a before picture. Too late now! I'm 30 and I have a few spider veins on my left shin. I'm not ready for that. I read the other couple reviews on this product and decided to try it. I'm not taking any supplements with it. I apply the cream once when I get dressed and once when I get undressed. Probably within 2 weeks I noticed a big difference. And considering it's fall and my suntan has been fading quite a lot, that's quite a feat! I bought one for my mom to try, she has a smidge of vericose vein on her ankle and I want to see if this cream helps that, too. Although the cream helps me a lot, some days the little red/purple lines are still more prominent than others (yet not as bad as in the beginning). It's been about a month now. The jar's about half gone. I am wondering if you have to constantly apply the cream, or if after a while you can stop. We'll see! I say def give it a try!

I've only been using it a few days and already the veins are lightening. The swelling I usually have in my legs is less too! A bit strong odor on first applying but that disappears quickly.

Awesome! I've been combining use of this with Nature's Way leg veins supplements, and my spider veins are lightening already (has been a week!) -- I didn't think that was possible without surgery! The other day I went to apply the cream, and the veins had faded so much I could barely find them to apply! I still have them, but what an improvement! It's my wish that with more time and repeated use, they will be gone for good, because they hurt and are unsightly. I have also noticed bruises are going away that had been bothering me for a while. The cream has a strong fragrance (the witch hazel) but it doesn't bother me. It absorbs quickly. Thanks!
