Whenever I go hiking in the local mountains in Southern California, I'm fairly likely to end up with a raging case of poison oak. So after a hike I always come home and wash everywhere twice with this scrub. So far it's mostly worked. It's not 100% effective, but I have no doubt that it's lessened the irritation even when it hasn't completely gotten rid of it. I think it's far more effective than the traditional tecnu without the exfoliant.

I would recommend this to my mother!

This was recommended by a friend two years ago and now I swear by it.I am severely allergic and tecnu is the best I have ever used either to alleviate after onset or to help prevent if I touched it by accident.I do use it a few times a day maybe that is why it works so well.

I am intensely allergic to poison ivy and get it from my cats all spring, summer and fall. I am careful about exposure, but never know when the offending oil will be on an animal or furniture, etc. I use tecnu at the first sign of itch, even if not sure it's PI. It prevents the awful weeping and infection I used to get. Sometimes, it prevents the rash altogether. If I do get a rash, when I use it, it really does alleviate the itch and get the skin healing. It is often necessary to use it many times during a single outbreak, but it sure is better than alternatives. Zanfels is equally good, but so much more expensive!

Yes, this is good, but I liked when Tecnu had the wash w/o the granules. I could then dab more on after washing for it to be really effective. Now I clean with this and then dab on Ivy-Dry which works pretty good, too. Also, I wear long sleeves and long pants when pulling the ivy, no matter how hot it is. Thanks!

No product I have found will prevent the rash once the oil is bound to your skin. If you don't wash the oil off within 10 minutes of contact, you will get a rash. Applying Tecnu before exposure prevents the oil from binding, and it does help relieve the itch after exposure, but the itch will come back repeatedly as the deep oils seep back to the nerves near the surface of your skin. Zanfel is more expensive, but seems to work a little better than Tecnu. Neither will stop the rash, and either one must be used repeatedly, about every 4 hours, to keep the itch under control.

I'm extremely allergic to poison ivy and have even been hospitalized with it. This is one of the most effective products I've ever used to treat it. It cleans well and quickly and reduces the itch a great deal. One reviewer wrote that the itch had lasted several weeks and new bumps kept appearing. She might want to consider that she's picking it up again and again from the cat or dog, from clothing, or from some other person. I got my last batch from sweatpants my husband had worn in the woods, and he's given it to me sometimes when he's pet the cat and then touched me. At any rate, Tecnu Extreme is an excellent product and it's a blessing it's here.

I used this product and it felt good gently massaging the scrub over the affected areas, but it has been three weeks today, and I still have the itch and more bumps are out again.

To treat rash:
Adults and children 2 years of age and older

Squeeze the desired amount of product into hand and mix with equal amount of water
Apply to affected skin and surrounding areas and gently rub for 30 seconds; avoid breaking irritated skin
Rinse with cool running water and towel dry gently
Repeat as needed

To prevent rash after exposure:
Adults and children 2 years of age and older
